Current Situation of the US/War

So how do you all think this Iran thing is going to end? With that Chavez dude in Venezuela dude trying to kick sand in our face and Ali Baba in Iran not backing down so you all think it’s time that the US finally starts to lose its influence in the international community? I mean Bush is just isolating us more and more each day and his administration doesn’t seem to care all that much. He is talking about how he will send troops into Pakistan to get Bin Laden (remember I called that Bin Laden will be caught before Election Day in Nov.) but I don’t think we even have permission to place US troops in Pakistan.

I see things unfolding as such…

Iran keeps up giving supplies to the terrorist in Iraq and Hezbollah (sp?) and influencing the Athenae Muslims. When the US is stretched even more thinly than it is now in Iraq, Iran will invade. Afghanistan will continue to be a lost cause because we do not have the troop count to keep the country stable. Billions and Billions and Billions of dollars will be pumped into a losing war effort that will cause massive energy and financial strain on our country compounded by the fact these smaller countries (Venezuela, Iran, Ect) will form their own pacts with countries like Russian and China and keep diverting the oil they sell the US to other countries instead.

I think over the next 10 years we will see ourselves drop off the Super Power pedestal that we’ve grown comfortable with.

I think we are all about to eat a piece of humble pie.

Thanks Bush!

The only country that can rival us as a "superpower" is China. However, given our military superiority, no country, not even China, will give us a legitimate reason to start a conflict.

World opinion of the US seems to be at an all-time low. I think that the results of that are being seen right now - countries are defying or ignoring the US. It will only get worse if we keep on our current course.

No country, not even the US, can beat the rest of the world into submission. Diplomacy is the only answer.

But I don't think that the current administration even knows how to spell diplomacy.

No but we sure could take out 80% of the world by firing all of our nukes all at once.

If we are going down, we take as many as we can out with us.....the republican way

I'm more concerned with what is going inside the country than I am with what is going on in the rest of the world. When the US finally falls, it will be because the people no longer want to contribute to society, but would rather sit at home playing thier x-box, drinking their 40, and going from dentist to dentist trying to figure out who is giving the best deal on grills is, while not working and collecting government checks.

I pass by those people every day at intersections. They keep asking me for money so they can buy 40's and continue that nice alcohol buzz they got goin'.

However, it's usually the people that do contribute to society that can afford an xbox, and have health care, which allows them to move from dentist to dentist for any particular reason they see fit.

I'm not concerned about the people inside of the U.S. collectively becoming less willing to be productive in society. With less than 5% unemployment in our country, it's pretty obvious a majority of the people are willing to at least put forth a minimum effort to sustain a living. Not only that, at least half the nation is Republican, and you'll never see a Republican with enough time on their hands (outside of life, work, and family) to actually stand out on some corner to either beg for money or protest some issue they'll more than likely not make an impact on.

Check your stats again. We could easily take out 99.99% of the world by firing our nukes all at once. The pinkskins couldn't even take the Cowboys out when TO had a broken hand.

I used to be a big fan of Hugo Chavez, but that thing at the UN pissed me off.

Talk like that ought to spur us even further toward getting off of our oil addiction, so pock-faced smacktalkers can go back to worrying about coups and assassinations rather than flexing their gas-powered muscles around.

Chuck Howley, Bob Lilly, Mel Renfro, and Randy White would be the best defense against nuclear weapons.

I choose to believe that there are a lot of sane people throughout the world, that can see how F'n crazy Iran's President is (not to mention a baker's dozen or so of other lunatics in power, such as Kim Jong Il).

When push comes to shove, those people will side with the United States regardless of how you perceive Bush to be alienating them. As it stands now, those are the people that are closer to being attacked than we are. They are the ones with Terrorists living at their doorstep, and as has been shown countless times in the past, these extremists do not bother to discriminate between those that they see lumped in with the evil Western Civilization that they are at war with.

Um, welfare is reformed, remember?

All empires were taken out by hordes of barbarians. Why should we be any different?

Are we different? :D

Think back to how we got here, way back when Christopher Columbus first arrived here. We were not the first to roam the land of North America.

Yer a comic genius.

You can bring out the best in me. :brew:

Wait... is that ghey? :D If so, I take back my statement. However, in a long line of events that have not yet happened, you win. But I'm still somehow more logically correct in whatever we could argue about. Okay, maybe not. But still. I'm stubborn, remember?

It is much better than when the demonrats held congress, but still not where it should be.

How so? :D

I didn't think we need to be pouring much more money into the welfare system, at least not more than already is. But I'm sure a little clarification will sort this one out.

We've had a discussion about this before (may be you weren't in it, but it has taken place many times), and I'm too lazy to regurgitate it. Look in the archives.
