Savage Beatings
Yowza... not good news at all. Could this possibly be a career ender for him? I mean if he can only muster up enough pain tolerance to play one quarter of football each week, he's not going to be of much value to too many teams in the NFL. peepinmofo
at least I think a healthy Pittman can do some things in a PPR league .. I agree. But if Simms cant get the ball to him, PPR would be useless. heh

Hat Trick
Theories Abound On Cadillac's Slow Start Skip directly to the full story. By ROY CUMMINGS The Tampa Tribune Published: Sep 21, 2006 TAMPA - The back is fine. Cadillac Williams says he has to take measures to keep it from stiffening up now and then, but the spasms that have sidelined him at times are not slowing him down. The run blocking is adequate. It's still not as consistent as Coach Jon Gruden wants it to be, but Gruden made it clear that Williams had some sizeable holes to run through during last week's loss at Atlanta. Why, then, if he's healthy and has room to run, is Williams tied for 38th in the league in rushing with 59 yards on 23 carries, the longest of which was a 7-yard gain in the first quarter against the Ravens in Week 1? The Bucs will tell you it's a result of opportunities - or a lack of them. They've fallen behind early in each of their two games, and that has all but forced them to throw the ball more than run it. They have a point. The Bucs were in no position to run Williams after falling behind 17-0 in their opener, and they weren't in a position to run him much after falling behind 14-0 last week at Atlanta. But those scenarios and the Bucs' decision to abandon the running game only help to explain why Williams' carries have been so limited. They don't explain why he's averaging 2.6 yards per carry. Not completely, anyway. Bucs running backs coach Art Valero will tell you that a running back such as Williams needs a dozen or more carries to find his groove, and Tampa Bay's inability to get Williams those carries has limited his effectiveness. But Williams will tell you something a little different. Though he agrees that a lack of opportunities definitely has played a part in his slow start, he said there's more to it than that. "I'm not a surprise anymore," said Williams, the reigning NFL Rookie of the Year who ran 51 times for 276 yards and a pair of touchdowns in his first two games last season. "And we're not a surprise as a team anymore. "I mean, teams are going to come in against us now and try to stop the run. But I don't care how many people they have in the box; as an offense we should be able to run the ball." Gruden won't argue that point. His offensive line is made up primarily of players who are most effective as run blockers. It's a young line, though, and the group's inexperience may be showing. Though players such as left tackle Anthony Davis and left guard Dan Buenning have a small body of work to fall back on, they may be seeing some things that are new to them, Gruden said. "There are some defenses that are [intent] on making us do something that we don't want to do on first or second down, and until we prove we can do it, it's going to be a little hard to run the football," Gruden said. "So it's a combination of things. Some of the looks we're giving [Williams] aren't the same, and when you get behind, well, there just aren't a lot teams that are going to be persistent running the ball - unless they want to go home quick." The Bucs come home this week for a pivotal game against Carolina. Like the Bucs, the Panthers are off to an 0-2 start. One reason may be their rush defense. The Panthers are allowing opposing rushers an average of 4.9 yards per carry, and that's not a stat that comes as a result of being only two weeks into the season. Panthers opponents have run the ball 80 times this year. No other defense has faced that many rushes, so it appears the Bucs have an opportunity to correct their rushing woes. The key, though, could lie in remaining committed to the run. After all, it's well documented that Williams is at his best when he runs often. And he's at his most devastating late in games. Last year, for example, Williams ran 79 times for 449 yards (5.9 yards per carry) and scored four touchdowns after the third quarter. Those figures accounted for nearly 40 percent of his rushing total. Of course, the Bucs will probably have to keep the game close to afford Williams the opportunity to run late in games. That means that some of the responsibility for getting Williams going may fall on the defense. But Williams gladly will take the rest on himself. He says he's healthy enough to take on a heavy workload, and he knows the Bucs' fortunes likely lie in his hands. "I look at tape of myself right now and I actually think I look a little quicker, a little swifter than last year," Williams said. "I know that's not showing right now, but we're only two games into this thing. "So I'm still looking for big things. And once we can get to running the football as a team and we get that cranked up, we're going to start getting some wins here." kerwin8
I can't find a thing on it anywhere. I hope somebody can find something on it... I just dropped Larry Johnson to pick up Pittman. Balzac
he doesn't have disks rubbing up against each other b/c that's not physically possible (they're rubbing against nerves, if anything). the impact of the herniated disks ultimately just depends on how bad they are and how far they're protruding - they can range from moderately painful to debilitating - from an epidural away from feeling good to surgery. overall, not a good sign. You seem to know more about this type of injury than... well... me, so I'll ask: Assuming it's bad, what kind of time do you think he would miss? Assuming it's actually not that bad, could it potentially get a lot worse if he ignores it or keeps playing? I'll be mad if you don't know the answers.
