Scorcher
Hey Guys, Just started a new position, bigger risks, bigger gamble. I sometimes wonder how many steps left to the"Peter Principle". They came to me, I never thought of asking. I was a managerial microcosm of a company and they came to me and said they wanted me to do what I did in my area on a department level. I took it and am gambling big. Here is the topper of all--- I told them that I had to be off on Mon and Sun. to watch the games and on a company retreat I excused myself from a meeting to do an FFB draft. FFB is a gamble with basically no repurcussions. I'm taking a chance at work that has only 2 outcomes-----great success----or total failure. If faced with the same situation what would do? untateve
I'd take the new job. However, since I have a wife and two children who depend upon me, I might let fantasy football take a back seat to the new job.

I took a new job about 6 mos ago, and FF has had to take a back seat while I establish myself and learn what is acceptable.

gilthorp
it depends if it was a lame ass job and if I were surrounded by a bunch of C players that I had to manage. If the caliber of the people are good, the management is easy. As far as dictating that you can't work to watch football, I'd like to know what hours this job holds, since most Sunday games are in the afternoon and most Monday games are in the evening....so why does watching football even factor into the equation? As far as dictating that you can't work to watch football, I'd like to know what hours this job holds, since most Sunday games are in the afternoon and most Monday games are in the evening....so why does watching football even factor into the equation? I guess my origional post had a few mistakes. I told them I wanted to be off Sun and Mon but I didn't tell them why. I was just telling you guys why. I work every Thanksgiving, every Christmas, Easter, New's Years Eve, Mothers Day. It's the nature of my job and (sadly) my choice. In my other position I was able to watch the games and enjoy FFB. I just wanted to at least keep that. Would I risk my job for FFB----no. I was just a little full of myself, among other things!
Jimmy Neutron
Sorry, I thought this was about reverse cowboy. Carry on. Hard to go wrong there. Seriously, only you can make the call on the job. I'm all for taking the risk if you're confident you can find another job if it doesn't work out. Good luck!
