Hugh 0ne
OK, so I plan on mounting my plasma on the wall in my living room. I will have the HD satellite box on a small stand. I will be running a line from the satellite to the receiver, that's the easy part. I will then be connecting the receiver to the plasma with an HDMI cable. So, from the plasma, I'll have two cables, the power, and the HDMI. I want to run them behind the sheetrock so all the cables are hidden. How can I make this look clean? I don't want to be left with holes in my sheet rock with cables going into and out of them, even if it is going to be covered by the TV and the unit which holds the receiver. Any thoughts? Suggestions? Kid Cid? Anyone?

BiggieFries
Maybe you could use an HDMI wall plate to "hide" the hole. Might make things look a bit cleaner back there. Linky
Caveman_Nick
This is not my area of expertise, but IMO you will be limited in what you can do other than putting a hole in the sheet rock. I suggest looking at a hardware store for a plate that will allow you to pass cables through it to make the setup neater. Or you can get in touch with a company that does whole house entertainment systems. They may have hardware that allows you to plug in an HDMI cable on either end of a system that you can build into the wall as you would a hook-up for your cable box. sundaynfl
You say you are running the connections behind the sheet rock. Do you have space behind the sheetrock to put the reciever on a shelf? If the receiver is RF capable you can control the receiver without it being in the room, if not you could flashers to relay the signal to the receiver. Besides, than if I had a problem with the receiver, I'd have to break down the sheet rock again. I don't think that would be a great idea. I have all of my entertainment system in the basement where I can control it throughout the house with RF or flashers. In hindsight I would have put all of the components out of sight in the storage closet with cooling fans.
TimC
I would go with BiggieFries unless you want to look ghetto and use that Wire Raceway thing up your wall.

Hugh 0ne
Went to Circuit City to inquire about HDMI cover plates. They don't carry them. According to the geniuses that I practically had to beg to help me out, they don't even exist. I should just leave holes in the sheet rock because they'll be behind the TV, and the other hole by the receiver I can just put a piece of furniture in front of it. Wow, that might work if I lived in Tennessee with Spain and had no f*cking teeth and was a r*mustard. The other suggestion: I can put blank cover plates over the holes. Really?!? Then where the F*ck are the wires going to come out of? Dumbasses. Edited September 25, 2006 by Hugh 0ne
rocknrobn26
You really shoudn't put an electrical cord behind drywall. Fire hazard! It should be an outlet on the wall. the DMI cord is no big deal. JMHO

They'll be much cheaper that way too. You may be able to call a local Home Theater installer and get one from them or just find out what brands they use. Any suggestions on how I should run the electric? Should I try and put an outlet behind the plasma, a normal outlet right in the sheetrock, and plug it in? Ursa Majoris
Went to Circuit City to inquire This was a mistake.
Hugh 0ne
This was a mistake. I already knew they existed, I went to inquire to see if I could buy them, as opposed to having to wait if I ordered them online. You know, the instant gratification thingie. I wasn't going there for advice. I come here for that.

Ask for anything slightly out of the mainstream even if you know it exists and they'll just go blank. Edit to add: There are some good staff in these places but they are few and far between.
