Ursa Majoris
Does income to illegals go into that number? You mean is their income counted and then averaged? I have no idea but it surely makes little or no difference.
Jimmy Neutron
You mean is their income counted and then averaged? I have no idea but it surely makes little or no difference. I just wonder what goes into the median income number. If it's total payroll divided by the number of people employed, it makes sense that the median is going down. Not that it's a good thing, but it makes sense. If the number is rolled up another way, I'd like to know how.
wiegie
you guys are confusing median with mean the median is the number at which 50% of the households are below the number and 50% are above the number. (as opposed to the mean where the income of all households is added up and then divided by the total number of households) if you add in a bunch of low income immigrant families, then holding everything else constant, median household income will go down I did a very quick check and I still don't know if the census bureau includes illegal immigrant households as part of their estimates--although unless the ratio of low income immigrant households to total households has been significantly changing over the past few years it likely won't matter when comparing year to year differences (it would be sort of like having a thermometer in which the numbers had been painted on incorrectly--the temperature will be wrong, but the thermometer would still be accurate in showing the difference between today's temperature and yesterday's temperature) Edited September 27, 2006 by wiegie
Chavez
The GOP is in trouble this election season, gas prices plummet. Coincidence? Since ALL the situations the oil companies were using to justify high gas prices remain pretty much the same, it's something to give a bit of thought to. Since ALL the situations the oil companies were using to justify high gas prices remain pretty much the same, it's something to give a bit of thought to. Prices have been dampened by a mild Atlantic hurricane season, healthy US energy stockpiles, signals pointing towards a slowing US economy and lessening tensions over the Iranian nuclear crisis. Markets also reacted to news from British energy giant BP that it expected Prudhoe Bay in Alaska, the biggest US oil field, would resume full production totalling 400,000 barrels daily by the end of October. http://www.theaustralian.news.com.au/story...2-23109,00.html

H8tank
but deep down you can't really think this president wasn't a disaster, can you? Name one specific thing? Iraq? We were doing what the UN resolutions said they would do, he also did the bidding of the United States House and Senate who voted for it. Katrina, local gov't is responsible. Economy? Booming. Job? Record unemployment. Diversity? Record diversity in his ranks. Plus, he was re-elected with a strong majority, you monkey's can repeat susan sarandon and barbara streisand all day, but it doesn't change the facts.
