BLK&GLD
Unfortuantely the byes are beginning. I have FWP on bye and my RB core is pretty thin. I was thinking of taking a flyer on Benson this weekend against Seattle but am a bit worried that he won't get any touches (like last game). Does anyone think Benson will get playing time or do I need to pull a trade before the weekend? Thanks
vikings711
Well he hasn't done anything this season, and I don't think that he can do much against SEA's def even if he does play. So, I would look to start someone else, but don't give up too much value just for a one week filler.

Would I be better off starting Musa Smith this weekend over Benson?
GoNads
I have the same situation and same concerns. I have Tiki and Jacobs off. My league mandates that you are only allowed four rb's. Benson is my fourth (figured he'd be starting by now at the draft). CBS is reporting he's going to get more carries this week but I'm not sure how accurate that is. I'm rolling the dice and starting him. I don't want to trade him because I won't get good value for him unless it's to the T. Jones owner. I still think he has the potential to blow up later in the year. T. Jones hasn't done anything and the Bears will need to start running the ball against better teams. Also, w/ the weather issues in Chicago late in the year, their passing game will diminish back to prior years. M. Smith isn't much of a better option since they play SD. However, he may catch some balls out of the backfield that will give him some value. If I had to, I guess I would start Smith. Check the injury report though as he was banged up last week. Gros Membres!
Benson was reportedly sulking on the sidelines last week. They might feed the capricious child this week or might let him rot on the bench until he grows up (starting to remind me of the "diapers"/Dick V./LJ stuff). I would start Benson over Smith and SD's stingy D.

Does anyone think Benson will get playing time or do I need to pull a trade before the weekend? Thanks I listen to Chicago sports radio ad nauseum and this kid just is not picking it up. Disregard all the psyche stuff and bad teammate stuff. If this guy did something on the field it would all change but the Bears do not trust him to keep Rex Grossman protected. With TJ, they know they have a guy that is willing to do it and knows how to do it. With Benson, they have a guy that is learning to do it. While trying to establish themselves as the favorite in the conference, they want more of a sure thing at that position. Bedoman
The only problem with that ksu70 is that he wil NEVER be a sure thing and get better by playing in practice. He needs game experience.... I do not know whether he will play this year, take over as the starter or never see another snap but if the Bears want to know what they do or do not have in Benson....this is the season.....Thomas Jones is not long for the NFL with his age and injury history and if Benson is not the answer then the Bears need to find the Next answer at RB for next year or for sure the following year.... I agree with the concept that a guy needs a chance to play to show what he can do. What is a chance? Do they give him 25 carries and see what happens? It ain't that simple. One thing that is certain is the Bears are looking to win right now. Their window of opportunity to win championships is now. All they are trying to do is pile up W's and so far, so good. I do not think this is the time they want to throw their "on the bench for a reason" running back into the mix to "see what they have." As a Benson owner I want this kid on the field in a bad way, I just don't see it right now with what I hear from Chicago.
Bedoman
One more thing to consider.....What are the Bears going to do when Thomas Jones gets injured which we all know WILL happen this year sometime....Let's say ummm week 13 when then are trying to clinch home field advantage. Then what do they have? Benson with no experience, still cannot block, and whatever they have with him right now.... Not good
