henry21
Would you trade Willis McGahee for one of the top 5 receivers in a straight up deal?

henry21
I mean any of them. I think they are currently Harrison, Holt, Boldin, Fitzgerald and someone else. My other RBs are Gore, Maroney, Rhodes, M. Bell and Norwood. My only other WR of note is D-Jack.

soopanuts
What other WRs do you have on your roster? You may want to hold onto WM and see if you can get a decent WR2 for Maroney, unless this is a keeper league.

henry21
It is a keeper league, so I am not going to let go of Maroney. My other WRs are really not good (except D-Jack). Rod Smith, Shockey, Reggie Williams, Mark Clayton, Jurevicius.

henry21
Yup -- 3 WRs or TEs, or a combination. No dedicated TE slot.
SLGRAF
I would hold onto Gore, McGahee, and Maroney as your main RBs, and try to upgrade at WR by offering your other RBs as handcuffs. i.e, offer Rhodes to Addai's owner, M Bell to T Bell's owner, Norwood to Dunn's owner, etc.

My other RBs are Gore, Maroney, Rhodes, M. Bell and Norwood. My only other WR of note is D-Jack. Let's see here...McGayhehe for: Harrison - nope Holt - nope Boldin - yep Fitz - nope Johnson - nope Boldin for McGayhehe. That's what you're looking at. I'd jump on that if I was a Boldin owner. But good luck with Boldin for the rest of the year and the carousel of QBs there.
henry21
I doubt I could get anything better than what I already have by trying to trade away mere handcuffs. I'd only want to do a trade if it would be a serious upgrade at WR, not just an addition to my problems (deciding which of my schlubs to start every week). I don't think Boldin would be a good idea, for the exact reason you give.

LosGatosEnFuegos
who's the top 5 wr? and i'll let you know. while i wait take a look at my post. That is to say, do two things at once. I like Gore/Maroney as your starters. If you could swing a top 5 receiver for McGahee, you should pull the trigger.
Gros Membres!
Boldin and Fitz play for the same team. So why would Boldin be a question mark because of QB issues but Fitz not? Average FF players thoughts on Fitz and Boldin: "I like Fitz because he looks more equine when he runs and those guys have done well in the past. Plus, he can jump high and catch balls in the endzone. And then Boldin has a bad attitude sometimes and he reminds me of Cuba Gooding, Jr. in Jerry Maguire and I don't have the time or resources to be Jerry." We'll see who comes out on top this year...especially with a QB change. I think it could be Boldin.

I like Fitz better because he is the RZ guy, but to say I don't want Boldin because of QB's issues and in the same breath say man I almost had Fitz seems odd to me. If Fitz gets his still Boldin will get his as well. These guys are very close.

QB change would favor Boldin IMO. He produces better after the catch, so could see more short passes from the rook and make more out of them. billay
Is this a PPR league? Keeper? How many Teams? On the surface, I would say yes, make the deal.
henry21
Obviously I know Boldin and Fitz are on the same team. I am not an idiot. I have more belief in Fitzgerald's talent, as compared to Boldin. I know they are neck and neck stat-wise, I just have a better feeling about Fitz. I've been wrong before, and will be again so who knows -- Boldin could do better. With a rookie QB getting the start (if it comes to that), I think we'd see the gap between them widen in one or the other's favor, because in my opinion rookie QBs get a favorite target and force the ball to that person whenever they find themselves in trouble. Leinart could be an exception (as with any general rule, there are always exceptions). In the end, you've got to go with your gut, and mine says Fitz is a better player than Boldin. That is why, despite the QB controversy, I was willing to chance it with him, and why I wouldn't do so for Boldin. I'd pull the trigger on any of the other top 5, but I got turned down anyway so it doesn't matter. Thanks for playing.

True, trading a RB handcuff alone may not garner you much. But, how about trading a RB handcuff with one of your current WRs for a WR upgrade in return? By the way, you might want to post your entire roster at some point, if you want creative suggestions.
