Savage Beatings
I am Jonesin on the new Hinder CD this last week. I typically don't listen to radio stations all that much anymore (almost always have KFAN on in my car) but my wife turned me on to this one. Got me to thinking that I have been missing out on a lot of music over the last year or so. So what's good, that's relatively new?
Chavez
Define "relatively" The Black Keys aren't all that new, but do some balls-out blooz-based rock. I just discovered this band called The Tea Party, who again, aren't "new" but I'd never heard of - imagine 70s era glam Bowie with an eastern-sounding (read - Indian) edge. I can't imagine someone not liking these guys, but then again, I'm pretty stunted in that regard. The Eagles of Death Metal are this sorta low-fi garagey...well, I'll use my wife's description - "it sounds like one guy with a snare drum and another with a guitar drinking whiskey and jamming on the front porch". Very good, very fun. Drive-by Truckers are keeping the Southern rock tradition alive and well. Um, that's all I got for now. Nothing particularly new, but it's all pretty f'in good, if you don't mind my saying so.
AtomicCEO
Muse Jose Gonzalez Sam Prekop That's what I've been digging on for the last month or so. Someone may chime in to tell me they've been around forever, but whatever. It's new to me.

(i'm still partial to "The Dirty South" but that's just me). great southern-fried-rock if you like that kinda thing. just for kicks, i put in GnR "Use Your Illusion I and II" the other day and was pleasantly reminded of what a great band this used to be. too bad Axel's such a head case. if you're looking for more of a "metal" sound (my favorite) try Bullet for My Valentine. Their EP freakin' rocked and their full legnth release "The Poison" is some of the best stuff i've heard in quite a while. it reminds me of Maiden (guitars, vocals), Shadows Fall (double bass from the drums), Disturbed (vocals - 'RRRAAAGGGHHH!), and SOAD (harmonies, time changes, arrangements). i know that sounds kinda odd, but give 'em a listen and you won't be disappointed if you dig that type of music. this is how i thought metal would have evloved from the 80's/early 90's if Grunge hadn't driven a melancholy stake through its heart. (i do like the "Seattle sound" - but popular media just beat it to death.) oh, and if you haven't picked up the Wolfmother album yet, do yourself a favor and buy it today. it's straight up bluesed-based rock with a 70's kinda feel to it. hope that helps a bit. I've gotta give a shout-out to this - I'd say it's sort of a more testosterone-loaded White Stripes. I envision the musicians wearing bell-bottoms, having man-fros, and showing off a ridiculous amount of chest hair.
darin3
Sound Team: http://www.soundteam.net/ Not sure how new they are, as my radio listening has dwindled down to "hardly ever". And now I don't work at an office where I use Yahoo! LaunchCast. So I'm not getting the skinny on any new music. But these cats are from Austin and have a heck of a catchy tune ("Born to Please"). If you like the Hinder CD, I think youll like this one. I got the 10 Years CD too. Havent listened to it all yet, but I like it so far. 30 Seconds to Mars is good, but youll get tired of it fast. On a harder note, Killswitch Engage released a new CD, but I honestly like the old singer better. There is a lot of screaming, so if you like it hard, youll like this. Wait, what? I discovered them and, as they were semi-local, shot 'em an email (somehow) and heard that the guys were off doing individual things. I think the lead singer had another decent band (forget the name) going. I've only heard that one song by Hinder, but if you're comparing the two, perhaps I should check out more of what Hinder has to offer. Coffeeman
I'm past the age of being on the cutting edge, but The Killers and Blue October still sound pretty fresh to me. But they've been popular for at least a year or two already. And some bands just keep getting better, so I'll buy the latest Incubus ('Light Grenades') and Foo Fighters ('Skin and Bones')too..... Edit: Hinder and Panic at the Disco are good too. Edited December 18, 2006 by Coffeeman

detlef
One of my favorite music movements of the last several years is the Italian Bossa Nova explosion. Nicola Conte has pretty much been in the middle of it and I dig basically everything he's done. I also just picked up a CD by Donati which is pretty in the same vein as well as one by Rosalie DeSouza who's actually Brazillian but was discovered by Conte. Super groovy dinner and cocktail music that is a virtual fixture on the Jujube playlists. Edited December 18, 2006 by detlef

DemonKnight
If you like Mike Patton (Faith No More) then you gotta get his new release "Peeping Tom". Awesome album. He reconnects with Dan the Automator (Lovage, Handsome Boy Modeling School, Deltron 3030). This is the best Mike Patton since "Angel Dust". Check out the Peeping Tom myspace page, you can hear the entire album there. Check the sone "Mojo" first, youll be hooked.

Lucky11
if anyone here likes Hot Water Music - those of you in the FL area might remember them - The Draft came out with a new album "Million Little Pieces." Great stuff - and not something you'd normally hear on AOR.
