Cutler is a lock to be the next Elway!

Recommended Posts

I don't know if you guys noticed, but it was fricking cold as hell, and nobody could hold onto the ball.

Cutlers numbers mirrored Hasselbeck's for the first 3.5 quarters. It was not a good passing night because the ball was frozen.

Sure that goofy halfassed pass that was intercepted for a TD was a rookie mistake... but at least it was an actual rookie mistake. When Jake made the exact same mistakes for the first 11 weeks, it wasn't because he was a rookie, and it wasn't teaching him anything.

I can't wait to see what he looks like in non-miserable conditions. That wasn't any worse than Plummer, and I have hope that he can improve (unlike Jake).

He looks like crap. Bring back the snake? If Vick is "the Coach Killer", maybe Shanahan is "the Quarterback Killer" Dicuss

Bring back Stabler? :D Interesting idea.

His first few years we were ready to murder Favre. He drove us crazy. Give the kid a little time.

You mean Elway-like in that he chokes every big game his entire career, then eventually rides the back of a stud runner to Super Bowls at the twilight of his disappointing career and takes all the credit?

:D

If this is your idea of acumen that you want to display for the world to see, you might want to consider following curling instead of football.

C'mon guys, Cutler is a rookie in his first game in prime time and in the cold. What really did you expect? I have to give this guy at least six games before I start passing judgement. Benching Plummer for the rook was a tough move but the right move. Deal with it and hope he improves.

Cutler looked terrible last night, no question. Kind of looked like, um, errr, a rookie making his first start in a game in midseason of the NFL season playing against a division leader...

I'd rather watch that than watch Plummer lead the team to the 5th/6th playoff seed and then watched DEN get crushed in the first round (again).

Elway was the biggest choker this side of Peyton until TD rolled into town. :D

John Elway

Denver Broncos

Choke job: 1990 Super Bowl

Once upon a time, John Elway was the poster boy for pro athletes who couldn't win the "big one." His alleged championship game stage fright was so frequently and cattily discussed that even The Simpsons succumbed to the urge to roast the Bronco legend. In the classic episode "Cape Feare," Homer fantasizes about becoming John Elway ("Thanks to Elway's patented last-second magic, the final score is Denver 7, San Francisco 56!").

The critics and comedy writers tended to ignore the relative paucity of talent on the Bronco roster and Elway's long string of brilliant, come-from-behind wins, instead focusing squarely on his lousy Super Bowl stat lines.

But in 1990, Elway earned the derision that had been thrown his way. Against the San Francisco 49ers, Elway made his two previous Super Bowl appearances (a mediocre performance against the Giants in 1987 and a bad one in 1988 versus the Redskins) look like unblemished brilliance. In what was possibly the least competitive Super Bowl ever, Elway puked up 10 completions in 26 attempts, 2 interceptions and 106 yards in a 55-0 pasting.

Redemption? And how! In the final two years of his career, Elway -- surrounded by the strong supporting cast he'd always lacked -- won two championships, tossing in a Super Bowl MVP award as a bonus kiss-off to his legions of doubters.
