The Next Generation
Philly fans are laughable. A majority, not all of them, truly think that they are an orgainzation that is looked up to. They have as many Super Bowl victories as the Cardianals for Christ's sake. Hello Fitz...... So because we continue to support our team even thought they haven't won a SB is laughable. Usually that is considered a die-hard and is admirable. BTW, we criticize our organization more than most fans, so your assertion doesn't even make sense. Never said they weren't die-hard, which is admirable. I just said that many feel that their teams should garner respect that they have not yet earned. At least Cleveland fans know there place and laugh at themselves.

Umm, where in the he11 did that come from - didn't see any "superiority" type wording in this thread (other than the "state is weighted to the west" comment, which was admittedly VERY funny, but not about us). Believe me when I tell you no Eagles fan I've ever met has a haughty attitude about the Birds. When they are good, we're screaming. When they suck, we boo. When they are average, we sit around saying "think they have a chance?" (and mostly answering..."no"). Pretty cut and dried I'd say.

True, and I actually agree with you that some of the Eagles fans get way out of hand. It gets so old for those of us that actually treat people with respect. But, I've been to plenty of other stadiums and they have the SAME types there, too. Much like the boy who cried wolf, a reputation is almost impossible to get rid of. Like your rep for hating on various fine groups of people who don't deserve the crap you spew. African-Americans in particular. Read This It's not just Philly fans, we just have the rep. And I want you to come decked out in all your best Eagles gear: hats, spamshirts, the works. And you can cheer as loud and as long as you want to. And you wont have to worry about beer getting poured on you; or somebody starting a fight; or anybody saying nasty chit; or any of the stuff rival fans have to go through at other places. As a matter of fact, I guarantee that people will talk to you like you were long lost friends. Thats the way we roll down here. Can you say the same for a game in Philly? Honestly? Or is it necessary to have a jail in your stadium...

If we weren't the way we are, 3/4 of the productivity in America would suffer. BTW, we don't play in Ten until at least 2010, so that's moot at this point (I would have taken you up on that offer). Maybe they should re-name your team the Tennessee Fairies..... what a pathetic excuse for fans. BTW, how can you not like a fanbase that shouts "Dallas SUCKS" on the air live everytime Jimmy Johnson or Michael Irvin is on location @ the Linc. C'mon, that's good stuff! You would see that most Philly fans are diehards and only a few are drunken slobs. I suspect pretty much the same at any NFL stadium on a Fottball Sunday or Monday. That ain't happening either, since we don't play them again until at least 2010. I've seen plenty of people wearing opposing teams colors get totally abused at Eagles games. Although, they were always antagonizing the crowd/mob by giving the finger, saying Eagles suck, stupid stuff like that. If you just go and cheer for your team, then you should have no problems. But, attack the home crowd and the home crowd will definitely attack back IN FORCE.
xMRogers
Honestly, the games I've been to (Vet and Linc), the level of abuse is tied to 3 things : 1) how the eagles are doing that year - this is somewhat the starting point to overall mood of fan base, and there are three levels to this : 12-4 or better type year - we're pretty lax and this is the best time to be an opposing fan regardless of next qualifier (third one is diff) to be honest in general, cause we're having a good year, and until the playoffs, we're not too tense about things. 6-10 or worse - we're relatively lax, somewhat miserable, but don't need much to remind us that we can add another f'n year to the drought, so the next two really get elevated 7 to 11 wins - average to abover avg - playoffs in sight, but not guaranteed (this year for instance) - we are IN to the game, so we'll treat everyone nice, but this is important stuff that we take (way too) seriously 2) who the opponent is The 49ers come to town, feel free to wear your gold and red (based on above and below) and cheer for your team - we play every three years, and in Philly every 6, outside of some randoms. We have no real rivalry, and it's just a game that we want to win. The Pats come to town - still some hard feelings over both the SB and a little "rivalry" action when we both got very good 2000-2004, but a lot of respect as well (I've been to one of these). We like seeing a well run team play well (I'd throw the Steelers in here too, with a bit of state rivalry thrown in, as well as a few other teams) The Giants/Skins and definitely Cowboys, plus a few passing rivalries (Bucs few years ago and prob. even now with that bs 62 yarder) - have fun, drink your beer, sit in your seat and shut the f up. Truly, more of a look at 1 and 3, and you'll have a good idea of what level to take the rooting to. 3) how you root YOu cheer for your scores, boo goodnaturedly, don't try to rile up the eagles fans, talk to folks around you in an intelligent way - outside of maybe a Cowboys fan in a tense season, you're fine. YOu give everyone the finger when you run in a tying score in the 3rd quarter and yell "suck this Eagles"....well, hope you brought an umbrella. now, gotta be honest - been to about 6 games at the vet (since I was of age to pay attention to such things), and only 3 at Linc, so I could be a bit off here, but think i'm pretty close

I was at the Pats game in 2003, 2nd game and the Pats were crushing us (31-10 final). I was in the lower level and this Pats fan starting giving the finger and yealling all kinds of things to the Eagles fans around him. He got abused and security had to come and protect him. Sitting a few rows over was another Pats fan that had just cheered all day long and didn't try to "take-on" the crowd. He never had a problem. Same sort of thing played out - bunch of pats fans up there, and almost all were "normal" and as they had also gotten blown out game 1 (both teams got shut out week 1 that year), we were all commiserating most of the game until they ran away with it, then we were just drinking. However, there were two punks (who got hammered) and started being completely out of control - that got ugly quick, and security had to escort them out. rhippens
True, I really do wish that pathetic sports town would at least do something. I live in Central Pennsylvania, and the ground seriously tilts to the West, which makes it very uncomfortable to walk. The Western side of the state is weighed down with all of the Championship trophies. Never said they weren't die-hard, which is admirable. That's not the trophies weighing your slimy side of the state down...its the guns and fat toothless women that you inbreed with yer cuzzins in West Virgina and has you guys tilted south (in a prism of ways). But thanks for pointing out that you are weighed down...BTW, how many trophies have the Pirates and Penguins won in the past 15 years? Or are you really here ripping Philly based on Pitt's convincing Super Bowl victory last year? The afterglow you think you are basking in is really a wet match, and dude, that flame has expired. O.k. which championship argument do you want to make with Pittsburgh vs. Philly Most Recent - Steelers 2005 Recent - Last 20 Years: Winner Pittsburgh Past - Pittsburgh Easily Call our Super Bowl win whatever you want, and try to discount the previous ones all you want, but, the Pittsburgh Steelers are a storied franchise, one of three to have captured 5 Lombardi trophies, while the Philadelphia Eagles are still searching for their first.........
