Yukon Cornelius
Northwest. I actually thought of complaining (not that we were delayed, as that was inevitable) but the fact that they just let us sit for 3 1/2 hours without so much as a glass of water. One of the guys who was with me actually went to McDonalds as soon as we deplaned to bring back some food to a mother who was traveling with two young kids. I'm guessing those kids were pretty darn hungry by the time we got off of the plane. northwest is natorius for that kind of shiat

JoJoTheWebToedBoy
Don't smoke while you're over there. Eat it. It's much better. Or better yet, dissolve the hash in your coffee...mmmmmm. Excellent Advice. Dude, it has been years but if the Milky Way or the Bulldog is still around give them a shot. The Milky Way was always the better of the two. Lived in Germany for 4 years and used to go up for a long weekend every year the first week of Dec. It's a party town. Enjoy.
Puddy
Here's what I just emailed NW. We'll see if they respond or not. Hello - I just wanted to comment on how poorly I felt our delay was handled on Monday evening. We boarded the plane at 5:10PM. Made it to the runway where we started to depart only to stop and return to the gate due to a light indicating that the cargo door wasn't properly closed. The piloy guessed it would be a very short fix and that everyone should remain on the plane. Well they finally decided we needed to leave the plane for a new one at 8:30. Well over 3 hours later. We only received a couple of updates from the crew and they never indicated that it would be that long. This was prime dinner time for everyone aboard (the flight was practically full) and not one person (at least in coach) was offered as much as a glass of water. One of my travel companions ran to the McDonalds in the airport after we deplaned to buy food for 2 young children who were traveling with their mother as the kids were very hungry sitting so long without anything at that time of the day. Shame on the crew for not at least bringing beverages by for folks. I ended up not taking the flight after the delay because my schedule was too tight. I'm not blaming NW for the delay but I am blaming you for the way the entire customer base was ignored for the most part during the lengthy delay. Puddy
Northwest Airlines <Northwest.Airlines@nwa.com> wrote: Dear Mr. Webb, RE: Case Number 3219908 Thank you for contacting Northwest Airlines regarding the lack of service on Flight 68 while it was delayed in Detroit on December 11. We appreciate your feedback. When there is a delay, finding another take off slot can be challenging. Unfortunately, we are forced to sit ready on the tarmac in the event that we can get a spot. We must be ready for take off instantly. This is also the reason that there is no beverage service during these times. We cannot have passengers moving around on the plane(going to the bathroom, etc...) because it would risk losing the only spot that we may get. So, although it is very inconvenient, we do not have a choice in this matter. However, I can understand why you wanted to bring this to our attention and you can be assured that your comments will be forwarded to the responsible individuals within Northwest so that we can find a way to better handle these situations in the future. As our very valued World Perks, Mr. Webb, you are in the best position to point out areas that need attention. Please know that we work very hard to operate every flight as scheduled. Your business is important to us and given the opportunity of serving you in the future, I am confident we will meet your expectations. Puddy
Original Message Follows: ------------------------- Thanks for your response. However - we were parked at a gate the entire time and not on the tarmac. Many passengers (myself included) were standing, walking around, using the bathroom during the entire time. I've generally had good experiences on my previous flights but this one was not. Not giving people a glass of water or allowing them to deplane while sitting at a gate flies in the face of common sense in my opinion. Thanks, Brian Webb
Puddy
Dear Mr. Webb, RE: Case Number 3219908 In your most recent email, you described your continuing concern with how your delay was handled and your disappointment with our staff. Since you made the effort to write again, you clearly feel strongly about this matter. Let me underscore that we take our customers' comments very seriously. Your feedback is well taken. I am sorry that I was mistaken. When I researched the Federal Flight Information Database on the flight it reports it as a taxi delay. Although I realize that this type of delay can happen before moving out to the tarmac, I usually assume that that is where it takes place and so I apologize for that. I do want to thank you for the additional information. I am not sure why passengers were allowed to be up and around and not served anything. That should have been taken care of. We appreciate your decision to let us know where our service has been deficient. Observations from our customers are critical and we are extremely appreciative of your efforts to bring this matter to our attention. I would like to offer you this gesture of goodwill to show you that we value you as a customer. For that reason I have added 4,000 WorldPerks bonus miles to your account *********. You may visit our website at www.nwa.com/freqfly/ to verify these miles have been posted. Please allow 3 business days for miles to appear. Again, Mr. Webb, I apologize for your experience. Your support is very important to Northwest Airlines and I appreciated the opportunity to review your additional comments. I hope you will provide us with a future opportunity to restore your confidence. Sincerely, Bev Vandelay Customer Care Northwest/KLM Airlines

Puddy
Well, I'm trying this trip again tomorrow evening. Rumor has it that it will be snowing like a mofo when i'm supposed to take off. We'll see how it goes. One good thing is when I was checking in online they asked me if I'd like to upgrade to business class for $400. I clicked yes as fast as I could. I can now actually sleep without people hearing me snore or watching me drool. Edited February 25, 2007 by Puddy

Puddy
Okay, I'm here in our European office. It's 11:45 local time and I'm a walking zombie. I now see why business class is so expensive. That was one enjoyable 8-hour flight. Wine list, three entrees to choose from, breakfast too. The seat reclines to where you are completely horizontal. The seat in front of you is probably 2 1/2 - 3 feet ahead of you. Each seat had it's own video screen with on-demand programming. Watched The Departed and thought it was good. I have a 2-hour train ride to my final destination. Then I have to somehow stay awake as long as possible so I don't wake up in the middle of the night. Flying back in coach on Friday is going to truly suck.

Probably head to the train station in an hour or so. We are going to Ommen. I forgot to mention the main reason I'm so freakin' tired is I probably got a combined 1 hour of sleep regardless of the accomodations.
