MFL overrated

Recommended Posts

I think a lot of what people prefer is just what they are used to. By now I have probably played on every league management system out there and I highly prefer MFL but that's just me. I find it faster, more intuitive to use and far more customizable than any other that I have used but if you have a particular software that you like, then it's going to be hard to compare because you already know how to use that software.

Viva la difference, but I'd take MFL over any other product I have ever used. But I know people that feel strongly about their personal preference for something else as well.

Very well said DMD. With that I rest my case. Keep drinking your milk and maybe someday you'll get your own fantasy football website. :D:D:bash:

There might have been, however, none of them were from me because I didn't encounter the site or live scoring down once this year. Whether it was luck or not I don't know but it was always up. (can't wait for the responses on this one)

$59.99

MFL was only $70 this year...so not twice the price of Fanball. :D

i've played on pretty much all of them, and they're all fine in some ways. but if you're trying to do ANY kind of customization, MFL is by far the best. the other thing i really like about them is their product gets significantly better each and every year. they cater to the real FF geeks, and they LISTEN to their complaints and suggestions.

This was my first year on MFL and it wasn't bad. For custom sites, yea, it is the best. For overall appeal to owners, I personally prefer RT. Had no major problems with it and easy as he11 to navigate.

I find MFL clugy and I don't like it. I really really really don't like having all you sack hangers forcing it down our throats.

Check out the thread title.....

$60 if you re-upped early enough, I think.

Previous years, yes, not this past year though...they did raise their price this year $10.

I've used MFL, Fanball, and Sportsline over the years and MFL is, by far, the best in terms of custimization and server reliability. No doubt that its interface is somewhat boring-looking, but I never thought that was important.

:D I can pay double for CBS where their fantasy content is suspect at best and where they are down as much as they are up.

OR

I can use the Huddle plus a variety of other free sites for fantasy content and pay less for a much more functional and easy to use product like MFL.

:D

All my leagues have made the easy decision here.

So basically if you're in one it's not worth it to move your league to the other as there's not a big difference in price, especially if you'd be bumping up $10 to go from Fanball to MFL.

MFL gives a discount if you have either multiple leagues or are switching from another league management site. They will take $10 off on each extra league and will match the price of any competitor up to $30 less than their price.

From their sales page:

We also offer discounts for purchasing more than one league (save $10 on each additional league) and for switching from another service (we'll match their price or give you up to a $30 discount). Contact sales@myfantasyleague.com for details on discounts available for switching from another service.

You of course are free to pay 2 to 3 times more for an inferior product with poor customer service.

This year was my first using MFL and I was neither overly impressed nor overly disappointed. Obviously, the customization gives MFL some advantages, but I'd agree with whoever called it "clugey"... it just has a not-so-professional feel to it. MFL has a lot of functionality, but I find its interface to be both clunky and not-so-intuitive for several of the features. It worked well and was up all of this year, though. I'd have no problem using it again.

I've also used Fanball. I've found it to be a very polished site; basically equivalent to Sportsline at half the price. There was a week in 2005 where they had some real issues, but it's been good since then. Their live draft room really needs some work. Other than that, another very good site. I'd have no problem using Fanball again, either.

Well...I'd answer that by saying you should probably take the time to research the differences between the various sites before you make a judgement. After all, you were the one who said MFL cost twice as much as Fanball when it doesn't. :D

There were no real problems, I guess I just expected more. The site is a bit difficult to navigate and the live scoring is not even close to what CBS offers.

The nice thing about MFL is that the interface is fully customizable. If the site is difficult to navigate, that's probably because the league admin did not work on the interface well enough.

If these are the only reasons you like MFL switch next season as I get all that with Fanball for probably half the price. I've never used MFL so I'm not bashing it, I'm just saying why pay more if you don't have to.

Notice I said probably and I can really care less at this point how much MFL costs as I've been with Fanball for about/over 5 years now haven't had many problems at all with the type of league I run and wouldn't switch anyway. But yes researching things is the prudent decision and I have and would do so if a change were necessary in regard to a fantasy site or anything else for that matter.

Moved 3 locals to MFL from TQ sports this yr. You can call me a sackhanger, whatever but it is night and day between the 2 as far as I'm concerned and it was $60. per league :D switching over.

Call me a sackhanger.

I am in leagues with a grand total of four different service providers. Scratch that, make that three as the CBS one finally gave up this year around week 5 and moved to MFL.

I think DMD is right in that if you are very used to something else then MFL or whatever might be hard to get used to. I can tell you that of the three services that I am using, (not my choice to use other than MFL), MFL is the only one that was up all year long. I did not have one singe problem getting on or checking a score. I can't say that for the other two services at all.

Having said all that, the other two services are better looking and more flashy. However, they have glitches that to this day can't seem to be worked out.

MFL has second to none help and will work with you on anything that is resonable. It's a sack hanging MFL for me.

:D Grammar Police - So you are saying you do care? Cause if you can care less, that means that you really do care, thus I believe a switch to MFL is the prudent thing for you to do..... :D

Having said all that, the other two services are better looking and more flashy.

But, as noted in several posts, this is largely due to the commish. By design, MFL provides a basic layout that the commish can either select a preset template that MFL does or completely customize on their own. SO, I would hesitate to say other sites are better looking, I would say that perhaps other sites stock appearance is better looking, but with the complete cutomizability of MFL, I have yet to see sites that compare to the sites of the MFL commishes that have spent a little time working on.

I've posted this before but it bears repeating. Yahoo and CBS both operate FF as a very minor sideline, mainly to increase traffic. FF is the whole of MFLs business and as is true in any line of work, a specialist is always better than someone doing something as a sideline.

The most visible difference is when you run into a problem - you will get a response from MFL within minutes. With Yahoo / CBS on the other hand, if you are very lucky, two or three days later you will get an email from a semi-retarded chimp who will provide you with a link to something that has nothing whatsoever to do with what you are asking about. I'm pretty sure that Yahoo and CBS recruit their help staff from Computer Associates.

Only used MFL and CBS... CBS blows. Every Monday morning was hung up and they offered a rebate for their ineptitude. I know MFL is sort of generic, but that could be changed by adding team logos and stuff… who cares? MFL will be first on the list next year.
