The Irish Doggy
Cincinnati Enquirer Police: Chat-line hookups robbedMan accused of luring victims through Web 'dating service' BY KIMBALL PERRY | KPERRY@ENQUIRER.COM Randy Brown acted like he really wanted to get to know the guys he talked to on a telephone chat line. Instead, police say, Brown was using the chat line to lure men into intimate situations so he could help rob them. Brown, 29, of West Price Hill, was arrested Monday and charged with three counts of complicity to theft. ADVERTISEMENT The method in each of the three cases against Brown is similar. Brown, police say, used a telephone chat line called Mega Phone - called a dating service by police - to meet other people. Then, police said, Brown "lured" men he met there to an address in East Price Hill "with the intention of having an intimate encounter." In the first charge, Brown is accused of being involved in a Dec. 6 incident in which he lured a victim to the Elberon address. Brown is accused of asking the man to shower before they went any further. When the victim got out of the shower, Brown was gone - as was the victim's wallet, money and cell phone. The next incident was Dec. 28. As the two men were in a bedroom of the home, there was a knock at the door. Brown, police said, excused himself to answer the door. He never came back and is accused of taking the victim's cash, credit card and cell phone. In a Jan. 12 incident, police say Brown met yet another victim at the same address. After a while, Brown excused himself to go to the bathroom. He never came back. After the victim realized Brown was gone, he discovered his cash, wallet and credit cards were missing, court documents note. Police say Brown had a partner in the alleged crimes but no one else has been arrested in connection with the case. Brown was ordered held Tuesday on $3,000 bond. Police issued a warrant for Brown's arrest Feb. 2, but he wasn't arrested until Monday. Brown pleaded guilty in August to theft for stealing $3,700 in plumbing equipment from Keidel Co. in Norwood. He was convicted, spent 60 days in jail, was ordered to repay the $3,700 and placed on probation in that case. At the time of his sentence, the judge told him if he violated probation, he would be sent to prison for one year.
