detlef
Agreed that Quinn is far from a "can't miss" guy, but a good QB is inherently more valuable than a "freak of nature D-lineman". Just ask Bears and Ravens fans. Trent Dilfer was their QB when they won it all. I'm not trying to devalue the QB position, far from it. It's just a whole lot harder to figure out who the great ones are coming out of school. Take a look at the guys considered among the greatest of the last 25 years or so. It's hardly a whos who of high 1st round picks.

I imagine that Joey Harrington probably could've won a ring with that squad. I see you point, though. I guess my answer is that competent NFL QBs are in such high demand and such short supply that teams are basically forced to reach. It's the one position where you can't skimp. You're almost certainly not going to win a championship without a competent QB. Edited April 28, 2007 by Bill Swerski
crispirons
I am thinking that he'll be paid like a top 10 player maybe with bonuses, but i believe the nfl has in place a payscale for rookies and its by where they are drafted. maybe someone can correct me if i'm wrong, but i think this is the way its done nowadays. crispirons
QB Brady Quinn, now a part of the Cleveland Browns organization talked about waiting until the 22nd pick to be selected after Cleveland moved up from the 2nd round to scoop him up. "It was tough (waiting in the room). I never anticipated it going the way it did... Didn't talk to any teams (before the draft) after the Dolphins 9th pick...It isn't about money for me. I want to win football games. I didn't lose money as I never had it to begin with. I never doubted myself as teams would take who they needed. I am happy that Cleveland took me." come on brady, you did lose money. alot of it too. he answered the question in the right manner, buy you know inside he is fuming. muck
come on brady, you did lose money. alot of it too. he answered the question in the right manner, buy you know inside he is fuming. Unless, of course, he knows he's going to get to play for the team he's rooted for since he was a little kid, and he believes that that is priceless. Hard to fault him if that's how he's looking at it.
