Big Country
One week ago today I was celebrating the birth of my second son. Today, I am mourning the loss of my grandfather, Frank Carey. He was 84 and had lived a good life, though arthritis had done a toll on his body and he was essentially limited to his house for the last 8-10 years with my grandmother taking care of his every basic need. My family had already booked a trip to visit him and my grandmother for this August so he would have the chance to meet the newest addition to the family, alas, the world had other plans. My grandfather proudly served his country as a member of the Royal Navy in World War II, and will be survived by my grandmother, my father and aunt, his 5 grandsons (me, my brother and our 3 cousins in England) and 4 great grand sons. I am doing fine. My dad has taken it hard and is currently on a flight to England to be with his family. IF any of you could sned thoughts, well-wishes, prayers etc., especially for my grandmother, who has literally spent the last 10+ years of her life doing little more than tending to my grandfather to make sure he was as comfortable and well taken care of as possible, I would really appreciate it. Thank you all.

TheGrunt
That's gotta be tough. I still have both of my grandparents, which I am very grateful for. But I'm sorry to hear about your loss, and my best wishes go to your family, and especially your father.

jaxfactor
Your grandfather appreciated, but probably didn't like the fact that he had to have his every need attended to. God bless your grandmother for attending to him. He's in a better place now, and I know your grandmother will miss him dearly as I'm sure all of you will. Thoughts and prayers being sent your family's way, especially towards your grandmother. She will need to see alot more of you to make her less lonely.Hang in there.
