2007 WSOP Pool

Big Country

Recommended Posts

For all of you who were interested, here is the sign up thread for the WSOP Fantasy Pool. Deadline for submitting a roster is 10 am PST Friday June 1st. (The first event starts at noon)

Objective: Pick any 20 poker players you wish and rank them from #1 to #20. Each time one of your selected players makes the final 16 in a tournament (see note below), he/she will recieve a point value based on his/or her finish. You can only enter one team.

Note: If a tournament pays LESS than 16 places, only the players who made the money will receive points.

Point System:

Finish Points Finish Points

1 50 9 16

2 44 10 14

3 40 11 12

4 36 12 10

5 32 13 8

6 28 14 6

7 24 15 4

8 20 16 2

Note: Point values for the $10,000 Main Event and the $50,000 HORSE tournaments will be double.

Ranking System: With so many teams having duplicate picks, the ranking system adds even more strategy and fun to the pool. Your point total for any given player will depend on their finish multiplied by the spot you ranked them.

EXAMPLE: Say you had John Juanda ranked #4 on your team, and

he won the first tournament. You'd get 50 points for the win,

multiplied by 17 for his rank for a total of 850 points.

The ranking values are as follows:

Rank Multiple

1 20

2 19

3 18

4 17

5 16 ... and so on.

Events: All open WSOP events will count towards the total with these exceptions:

Casino Employees Limit Hold'em (Event 2)

Ladies No-Limit Hold Em (Event 17)

Senior's No Limit Hold'em (Event 41)

Media Charity No Limit Hold'em

Any scheduled satellite event (I note this as they list satellites for the $50K horse event on their officail calendar, so being perfectly clear that it does not count to the total)

The second chanve events that run during the main event also do not count.

If you check the World Series of Poker website, they have a schedule. Only those marked as an official event, with the exception of the three above non-open events, are counted towards the total.

Please submit your team in the following manner (Please do your best to spell the names correctly, do not use nicknames, I will do my best to double check all entries, but spelling is important to help me try automate the scoring) :

(Just cut and paste the below part in your reply)

I should be able to track using my Q phone and update during the day following the final table of each event. Work still blocks access to most sites, so will have to look up on the Q, add to spreadsheet and post update. Not too hard, so long as it is not a very busy work day.

Is there $ involved in this?

Always been for just bragging rights, though you are more than welcome to put up any wagers you want with other participants, be it for money, a sigline bet or whatever tickles your fancy.

Time to put my picks in. Gonna go a little different than I have in years past and pick a few "dark horses" so to speak.

Huddle Name- Big Country

14. Joseph Hachem

15. Alex Jacob

16. Eric Lynch

19. Erik Seidel

20. Greg Raymer

Edit: Hard to decide.. I wanted to add another young gun to the squad so my list is different than everyone else's, but it means taking out either Juanda, Raymer or Seidel. I think I keep Seidel as he is good at getting deep in tournies, I just don't know how many he plans to play, thus the lower ranking. Juanda and Raymer should play a lot of the tournies. Maybe I take off Todd, I know he is more a cash game guy and may only play the bigger buy in events.... uggghhh.
