DMD
Even he had to see that coming months ago. I think. We'll... everyone else knew it anyway. And why would he NOT want to be traded from a team who obviously does NOT want him?

Wouldn't he have less leeway in terms of going somewhere he wants to go, as trade bait, rather than as a free agent?
Goopster24
Wouldn't he have less leeway in terms of going somewhere he wants to go, as trade bait, rather than as a free agent? True. I mean he doesn't have a no trade clause or anything. I guess he could just have said he wouldn't have played for anyone. But he would still be under contract. G3-175SE
I don't see the Fins getting much of anything for him. Everyone thought the Chiefs were going to hold on to Green until the last minute but I don't think the Fins will do that since there isn't anyone asking for him. I don't want to see the release him but that is possible.
DMD
Culpepper makes $5.5 million this year and he had a $10 million signing bonus (I think) that will hurt the Fins for another year or two I would suspect. But can a team afford $5.5 million on a back-up QB that they don't want and that would likely get cut next year when he would be owed even more? CPep is gone and I would guess he has to be released with that salary since he will not be a starter anywhere else. With rookies to play coming up, he has to be released within two or three weeks if that I would guess.

MikesVikes
I don't know if there will be a team that will help the fins out by trading for him. If they end up cutting him, there should be plenty of interest.

If they end up cutting him, there should be plenty of interest. That's my thought too. Teams know he will be cut so they'll simply wait. Someone will take a chance on him. THE SIX KINGS
USA Today Latest notes Jun. 8, 2007 - 12:38 p.m. ET Daunte Culpepper was escorted off the field at Dolphins practice by the team's director of security. That would indicate Culpepper has likely been traded or released. The most likely destination is Jacksonville, and we are hearing rumors that a trade is near, but we cannot get additional confirmation at this time. Any trade would have to wait for Culpepper to pass a physical, so official word may not come for some time.

Crazysight
BREAKING NEWS - Miami QB Traded To Jacksonville? Jun 08, 12:38 PM A story in the Palm Beach Post reports that QB Daunte Culpepper was escorted off the practice field by the director of security. Dolphins' team sources tell FFChamps.com that QB Daunte Culpepper is being traded to the Jacksonville Jaguars for undisclosed considerations pending a physical We will continue to follow-up with this story as more details become available. Fantasy Spin: Culpepper's move to Jacksonville has an immediate impact on the Jaguars. He will have a legitimate shot for earning the starting job from Byron Leftwich. Culpepper's fantasy value just increased while Leftwich's takes a hit. Edited June 8, 2007 by Crazysight
WaterMan
Let's look a Moss's past QBs: Collins, Brooks, and - oh yeah, Culpepper. I think Moss hasn't gotten any skills left. Edited June 8, 2007 by WaterMan

DMD
But Del rio has stated Byron is his man.....Leftwich would flip his lid. They were already talking about this in JAX yesterday and Del Rio said that CPep would only come in as a back-up.
Gros Membres!
Just read this as well, perhpas it's posted elsewhere. NFL Network's Adam Schefter reports the Rams would be interested in Daunte Culpepper if he's released. They will not make a trade offer. Jacksonville and Baltimore are also mentioned as potential suitors, and the Jags reportedly held meeting Thursday to discuss bringing Culpepper aboard. ESPN's John Clayton believes the Ravens would be an ideal fit. Jun. 7 - 7:08 pm et I'm on board with Clayton here. With Bulger's past injury issues, I could see where being reunited with Linehan with a pretty good shot at getting some PT this year would be the ideal fit for Culpepper. I can only see touble in JAX if C-Pep ends upo challenging Leftwich for a job.

I don't think the Ravens would go after him. I would imagine they are seeing what they got with Troy Smith sorta, even if he was a low draft choice. Haven't they been loving him? I agree though with your thinking, the Rams seem to make sense.
