I am doing a presentation tomorrow....

Recommended Posts

In tomorrow's 2 hour long presentation for my Master's class (EDU 569 - Abnormal Psychology), a portion of my 2 hours will focus on the Media's role in eating disorders.

I will be including:

Magazines

Television Shows

Movies

Models/Ads

Children's Toys (Barbie)

Diet Craze

I will be bringing in a video as well as bringing in some of the above mentioned items to show to the class the role that our wonderful media plays in portraying the impossible yet "perfect" bodies that we should all strive for.

Any other portions I should include?

BigMike

What about doctors? The latest craze is 0 trans fats in foods, that's all based on medical research that's fed into the mainstream.

I thought I read somewhere about people actually forming some sort of exercise addiction, similar to eating disorders, probably to late to add a section on that but might be interesting if you ever do another presentation of that sort.

There are several exercise TV show as well as at least on fitness channel.

I don't think you should unfairly label it as a "disorder".

Some chicks want to be thin. Good for them. You really have to admire Nicole Richey's dedication to being slim.
