DA in Duke Case Isnt the Lone Culprit

Recommended Posts

The disbarment of Durham District Attorney Michael Nifong should be just the first step in remedying the gross and cynical fraud of last year's "rape" case against Duke University lacrosse players.

Not only is Nifong still liable to civil lawsuits from the three young men whose lives he tried to ruin, and criminal prosecution for his obstruction of justice and making false statements to a judge, there are many other people who disgraced themselves in hyping a lynch mob atmosphere when this case first broke last year.

The 88 Duke University faculty members who took out a hysterical ad, supporting those local loudmouths who were denouncing and threatening the Duke students, have apparently had nothing at all to say now.

Not only did many Duke University professors join the lynch mob atmosphere, so did the Duke University administration, which got rid of the lacrosse coach and cancelled the team's season, without a speck of evidence that anybody was guilty of anything. This is one of the few times when Jesse Jackson is speechless, even though he was loudly supporting the bogus "rape" charges last year.

A local civil rights activist even had the gall to accost the mother of one of the accused students at Nifong's disbarment hearings to say that she still believes they were guilty. :D

The sad and tragic fact is that the civil rights movement, despite its honorable and courageous past, has over the years degenerated into a demagogic hustle, promoting the mindless racism they once fought against.

Although the committee that disbarred Michael Nifong said many things that needed to be said, they muddied the waters by saying that Nifong may have deceived himself before he deceived others.

Nothing that District Attorney Nifong did suggests that he ever thought these players were guilty or that he ever intended to bring them to trial.

The photo lineup presented to the stripper was so completely different from standard procedure that it was virtually an invitation for a judge to throw out any identification resulting from it -- and without that identification, there was no case

This was not about winning a case. It was about winning an election.

Nifong could not allow a standard lineup to be used to have the accuser identify her alleged attackers, or else her unreliability would have been exposed early on, depriving him of a case to use to get the black vote in his election.

There is not the slightest reason to believe that Nifong was deceived or mistaken. He was not some kid fresh out of law school. He had decades of experience as a prosecutor. He knew exactly what he was doing.

Nor was the New York Times a naive ingenue in these matters. It had backed Al Sharpton's fraudulent accusations of rape in the Tawana Brawley case, which had the same politically correct elements of a black woman accusing white men of rape. Nor were the 88 Duke faculty members who promoted a lynch mob atmosphere naive. Most were from departments promoting the "race, class, and gender" vision of victimhood.

This case served their purposes. That trumped any question about whether the charges were true or not.

Don't expect any of these people to recant or apologize. But be aware of how wide and how deep the moral dry rot goes.

That such people are teaching students at an elite university is a chilling thought. That they promote a campus atmosphere where political correctness trumps the search for truth is painful.

That such attitudes and such atmospheres are not peculiar to Duke University, but are common on elite college campuses from coast to coast is a time bomb with the potential to destroy individuals and ultimately undermine the whole society.

John Burness, senior vice president for public affairs and government relations, said Monday that the agreement was several weeks in the making but was signed Monday.

"The settlement covers all matters related to the situation to date involving Duke and its employees, including members of the Duke faculty," he said. "I think both sides just agreed that both sides would have been looking at months or years of difficult litigation and it was time to go forward."

Wow! Nice sort of non-commital letter, which was only about a year and a half late. They publish that letter after it is obvious that Nifong has lied and withheld evidence? Way to go! Support all students my ass! Why didnt they publish that letter immediately after the 88 proffessors take out their formal "witch hunt" ad? Academia cares first and foremost about political correctness. Education takes a backseat to p.c. everytime. This case illustrates the bias in academia and by the far left.

edit: And lets face it, it is p.c. for the left to be biased toward white and wealthy. Always support black, poor, or anybody else as they can constantly portray as victims. This case showed the racial bias the left has toward middle and upper class white folks. The left is just as guilty as the KKK when it comes to prejudice and discrimination.

Wow. I'm amazed that Spain did NOT bold the line about Jesse Jackson.

It's a crazy mixed up world.

Why do I need to highlight Jesse Jackson when the Democratic Party does it for us every 4 years at their national convention?

Not exactly. This case is just another in a long line of examples of bias by the left in academia. If we are going to stamp out prejudice and discrimination, we need to highlight and denounce it wherever we find it. Unfortunately, academia is filled with these leftist nutbag haters that need to be exposed.

The number of Duke faculty members who signed the original letter were less than 4% of all Duke faculty members.

And, as I have said ad infinitum on this forum, there is nothing stopping any of you from becoming a college professor--so if you think there is a problem, go do something about it. (of course, I do realize that being a whiny "victim" is the easier path to take)

:D a true lib with silly name calling. you make me laugh lib. ha lib.

Given that H8 gave you that nickname, I think it is safe to say that it has nothing to do with the political ideology of the person who uses it to refer to you.

Sure there is. I am a conservative, white, male. For the most part conservatives are not welcome in academia. Throw in the white and male parts and you have the trifecta of most hated people in that business. Liberal black female? I am in quicker than the typical professor can pull the clean slate of all Democratic candidates every 4 years. Conservatives are persona non grata. Go check the stats on who academics vote for and it will bear out my theory. And you know it whether you want to admit it or not.

Why do people even listen to Jessie and Al. Why are these 2 even relevant anymore. That is what I dont get. Al got Lymus fired, but that dumbass needed to be fired for those comments. These 2 men do 10 times more harm than good, yet for some sick reason, people support them, and fund their racist agenda.

So, There are no conservative professors because institutions of higher learning have an unwritten conspiracy against conservative white males? :D

I think that if a conservative white male wanted a job in academia, and they worked hard, and put in the years of schooling, that they could find a job. Is the unemployment line full of conservative white males with degrees suitable for a job in higher education? I don't think so.

So according to Spain, intelligent people are Democrats?

Makes sense to me! :D

Quite the contrary. Idiot liberals are in academia because they cant cut it in the "real world" with their moranic ideas.

But since you spend such time here hanging off of b8Bucket's sack like a leech I'm surprised you haven't embraced the name dicktart.

This case is the Tawana Brawley of the 00's. Does that mean Nifong runs for president in 3 cycles?

Or, just as probable, is that conservative white males don't have the necessary skill set to teach.
