Duchess Jack
I've been seeing them longer and longer these days....
irish
Basically anything short or long of the belt is frowned upon. I basically go to the middle of the belt so as to make sure it doesn't go long but isn't to short. However, it really isn't to big a deal as long as it's not 3 inches below or above the belt. Duchess Jack
I noticed it first on Jon Stewart - his tie went a couple inches beneath his belt... I found it curious and look at other people on TV with wardrobe people... they were wearing theirs the same way
rajncajn
The tip should cover your pants button, it should never be above your belt and should never cover the zipper.
rajncajn
...and unless you can tie a double windsor then you might as well be wearing a clip-on.
irish
The tip should cover your pants button, it should never be above your belt and should never cover the zipper. So what he's saying is it should be at the middle of your belt where the button is. Edited June 27, 2007 by irish

whomper
We went to a wedding one time and My father in law was wearing a tie that was so short it was ridiculous. It was probably from knot to bottom of tie about 6 inches..My wife had the funniest line I ever heard her say that day. She said dad your tie looks like it is missing something..and he said what ? and she said half of a tie.

dmarc117
one question, how big is this belt you speak of?? i wear a tie for weddings and funerals, thats it. so this makes me horrible at tying one. i just try to get it as close to my belt as i can. The Holy Roller
I misread the meaning of this question. Mrs. HR often makes me make it the last article of clothing to be removed. She is a master of how to use a tie.

Hankk
Please don't make us wait for that pretentious Hankk character. But I'm so worth waiting for. Your tie should reach the top of the belt buckle, but the end must not be below the buckle.
