Vick will not see the field this year. The advisors around him, worried that they are going to lose their cash cow, will advise Vick he needs to start rehabilitating his image right now. That means he will stike a deal with the Feds quickly. He will see some prison time, but not much, in exchange for his cooperation. He will go on probation, and a condition of which will be comunity service, which he will fulfill by doing public service announcements about cruelty to animals, but which will be as much about painting him as contrite. He will have a public religious epiphany. Possibly this will come with a name change to signify his rebirth and to get away from the damaged brand that is the name "Micheal Vick". All of this will take him through next year.

 

Sometime next year he will start working out as a W.R. Why? No team will trust him for the face of their franchise, but some team will still covet his athletic gifts. He will float trial ballons on this possibility, but things will still be too raw for him to come back. He may, demonstrate his skills in Canada as much to allow the final public vitriol to be spent as to truly showcase his skills. In 2009 he will make an NFL roster under his new name as a W.R./K.R. He will do well at that. America loves a redemption story. We also love humbling our heros and watching them dance. Mike Vick is going to learn to dance.

 

Very interesting scenario but I couldn't see myself ever rooting for this guy.

I'm curious what evidence they have other than someone saying they saw Vick at a fight or knew he was involved. Seems like they surely have to have a paper trail of some sort to get the indictment but it would be a shame if he got totally railroaded by people trying to get off light and throwing his name around to do so.

 

Either way, he definately made a bad decision with who he let live in that house and it's impossible to believe he didn't at least have an idea as to what was going on there. At this point it seems that even if it was just poor judgement it could cost him his career.

This would all be different if he were indicted on drug charges that stemmed from pain killers or something self-destructive. Then you could feel sorry for him. The fact that animal torture is involved, and in such grizzly detail, it's going to be damn near impossible for him to rehabilitate his image. How do you feel sorry for someone involved in animal torture? Particularly someone rich and famous? For some people that's right up there with the worst crimes you can commit. To what degree he's involved is debatable, but at the very least, he owned the property where it all occurred. So he is "involved".

 

How on earth did the Falcons not know this was going on? They clearly didn't, because you don't give $100 million dollar extensions to guys that you know could get into this much trouble. I guess you can't know everything your players do, but don't you pay close attention to what your stars are doing? Especially the ones you give all your money?

 

The whole thing is just awful all the way around.
