Pope Flick
What's the Dominic Rhodes situation? Is he behind Fargas, or are they sober enough to place Rhodes ahead of him?
RaiderSteve
What's the Dominic Rhodes situation? Is he behind Fargas, or are they sober enough to place Rhodes ahead of him? I would count on both Rhodes and Fargas getting work. Maybe even splitting carries. I wouldn't count on Jordan this week. With Rhodes back they should just let Jordan heal up. MrTed46
I doubt Jordan will be back in the rotation this week. If I had to guess I would say 2-3 more weeks until he returns from his back injry. Those can linger and VERY easy to injure again if its not fully healed.
gilthorp
Does anyone really know what the "back injury" is?
RaiderSteve
Does anyone really know what the "back injury" is? What ever it is, the play he was injured on looked pretty routine, he twisted it just a little when he was tackled. To me it must be something pretty serious or at least that is constantly giving him problems since he has been dealing with it for a while now. MrTed46
I pulled my lower back a few years ago trying to pick up something heavy. I wasn't able to move for 10 days it was so severe. Only stretch of time I took off of work in my life (other than surgery). I cant imagine playing football on anything near that condition. It also seems to be a lingering problem for him. I hope he makes a recovery soob.
gilthorp
I've also seen people with something pinched in there not be able to move, but the condition goes away relatively quickly. It would be good to know exactly what the injury is.

ethnics
Experpt from an article in yesterdays paper regarding Monday Practice: The only players missing were McCown and LaMont Jordan (back). Kiffin said he hoped to know more about Jordan by Wednesday. Chances are he has a pretty good idea right now, but it's unlikely he'll part with the information. – Dominic Rhodes, who practiced twice last week, said he's ready to pick up his share should Jordan be unable to go. "I'm tired as hell today, but it's getting there," Rhodes said. "All I'm doing his hoping they put the ball in my hands and let me play. I'll take whatever comes my way." Whether it's one carry or whether it's 20? "I don't know about the one," Rhodes said. "I hope it's a lot closer to 20."

myhousekey
I'm not saying they shouldn't or won't rest him but if you saw the hit and subsequent back injury sustained by David Carr on Sunday then I wouldn't say its impossible for Jordan to come back and play after a 2 week break. "It was by far the worst pain I've ever felt in my life," Carr said of a first-quarter sack by Will Smith that knocked him out of the game for several possessions. "I felt like I got sat on and then twisted. Every bone in my back popped all the way up to my neck. ... I didn't know, honestly, if I'd ever play again." He played again all right. "The hardest part was taking a snap, just getting down in that position," said Carr, making his second straight start for Jake Delhomme, who hurt his throwing elbow. "It was like somebody was stabbing me in the back every time I threw the ball, but I had to do it for these guys. They worked so hard. The defense was playing great. I just felt like they really picked it up and stepped up for me." Edited October 9, 2007 by myhousekey
Chadman
Perhaps a lazy question on my part, but...with the suspension of Rhodes, does that mean he was not practicing with the team, but allowed to be there, work on mental preparations, stay in shape, etc? Meaning, he is just now getting to take regular reps and full practices, get hit, get his body in "football" shape? I'm trying to gauge/guess how much action he will get THIS week, thanks for any insight.

I do not believe he was permitted to practice with the team, and I think you make a good point - weight room is all well and good, but I would think Rhodes needs a couple weeks of hitting and practice before he's ready for alot of touches. He can still work out on his own or with a private trainer. So he is resuming practices as he did in the preseason.

Easy n Dirty
Therefore by elimination, Fargas would be the start to make this week? Your opinion is as good as mine - I personally have not yet eliminated Jordan, but I would certainly shy away from Rhodes initially for the reasons noted above, I just can't imagine he's in "game shape" just yet, or not enough so to endure alot of touches. Swiss Cheezhead
Sorry, but does anyone remember how much Rhodes clearly sucks? That's one bandwagon I'll never be on.
Chief Dick
Sorry, but does anyone remember how much Rhodes clearly sucks? That's one bandwagon I'll never be on. Have you been in a cave? With all the dang injuries to running backs this year we are all drooling over anyone with a pulse.

I'm holding onto Jordan for another week, once we hear anything this week. I'm not convinced that Vargas or Rhodes will be go-to backs for the long term, yet.
