stduke
I'm having a hunch that Westbrook is going to have nagging problems all year with this abdominal strain/tear. I really don't want to get rid of a stud like him but it gets old trying to decide on a gametime decision thing every week. I was wondering if I should shop him now before he becomes damaged goods. Any thoughts or insights appreciated.
rajncajn
Should be in the fantasy advice forum, but... Depends on the type of league. If it's a redraft or a minimum keeper then I would hold on to him for the remainder of the season. If it is a full keeper or dynasty then I would wait until he returns with a good game or two under his belt & then trade him.
tomfin2000
I wouldn't bet against Westbrook. Unless he has a season ending injury and goes on IR, you have to assume that he will play on any given week and put up incredible numbers. Besides, in a season where just about everyone has sucked, or at the very least been wildly inconsistent, who would you trade him for? I think a better strategy would be to make a move to acquire Buckhalter if you don't already have him so that you can make a call on Westbrook each week just prior to gametime. Any thoughts or insights appreciated. First of all it's not a hunch that Westy is going to have nagging problems with injuries all year, especially regarding his current abdominal ailement. He has problems every year, however he usually plays through them. Secondly, you shouldn't be trying to get rid of him, especially if you're in a league that has PPR, because he is in fact a STUD. And lastly, what are you talking about trying to shop him before he is damaged goods?!? He IS damaged goods and unless everyone in your league are idiots, they know his current status! He's already missed one game and even though he was back at practice on Monday, it was in a limited capacity. You can't shop him now as you won't get optimum value for a player of his talent when healthy. Hold onto him and enjoy the tortureous ride. wolfdigger
I was not shopping Westbrook, but had another owner want him bad. I have Buckhalter too. I decided to trade him for Edge and Braylon Edwards and kept Buckhalter. Time will tell, I am a big Wetsbrook fan and hated to part with him. Avernus
I am kinda worried about Westy right now....the things I've heard about his abdomen are cause for concern...
Bill Swerski
If you're in a redraft league, I'd hold onto him. If you're in a keeper/dynasty league, I'd deal him as soon as he comes back and has a couple of good performances.

I agree with you Avernus...which is why I started this thread. I have a bad feeling Westy is going to be done for the year soon.

irish
looks like he fully participated in practice today ... anyone have any more on this? Same deal here.... Eagles: Westbrook practices fully 10/10/07 04:31 PM THE NEWS Eagles running back Brian Westbrook practiced fully on Wednesday, according to the team's official report. He missed Week 4 due to an abdominal strain. "I feel a lot better than the bye week," Westbrook tells the team's official web site prior to practice. "This is an injury that takes time to heal. It's been healing over time, and hopefully it'll continue to do that." We need to see how Westbrook feels come Thursday before declaring him a safe play for this Sunday. It sounds like he's headed in the right direction, though. I like where this is going and think all will be well with Westy. His owners should just try to grab Bucky in case he has some problems in future weeks. Otherwise he's an absolute STUD that shouldn't be traded away. Square
So how much play do you think Westbrook will see even if he is healthy? I'm not a westbrook owner but am considering Buckhalter as a spot start. They charge us per trade in my main local so I don't want to pick him up unless he'll at least see a decent amount of carries. I'd think the eagles could handle the jets and possibly use Buckhalter to spell Westbrook often this game (assuming he does play). Where do you westbrook owners go to find the best info on his status (not sure I trust CBS)?
Delicious_bass
Unforunately for Westy and his owners, an abdominal injury is hard to shake. You use your "core" for so much (espcially in sports) that its always working. I would think he is a couple good hits away from missing more time (especially if the rumors about the muscle being torn are/were true). peepinmofo
For whatever its worth, I had a dream last night that he had at least one big play... Something like an 80 yard TD run. Pretty odd that is all I remmber from the dream. I dont even own him!

FishFreak
Sure the guy is a stud but he's a weekly headache I'd rather not have on my team. I'd rather trade him and get as much as possible than deal with weekly gametime decisions, games missed and of course future injuries that are likely to occur with this guy.
