WCOFF Accomodations

So, as there is generally a sizeable contingent of Huddles in Vegas for WCOFF, and the forced accomodations at South Point suck, I thought perhaps we may have enough people there to be able to work some kind of group rate at a better located hotel.

I know twiley is likely going to use points for his room at one of the Hilton properties, but, of the others going, who is going to be booking rooms.

If I can get a rough idea of how many rooms Huddlers will be booking, I will call around to a few hotels and see if we have enough to constitute some form of group discount if everyone anyone is interested in that. Would also make planning Huddler events a bit easier if we are primarily centrally located.

From last year's rules:

21. Hotel Room: There is a mandatory one-night stay at the South Point Hotel, unless you were provided a hotel exemption. Reservations must be made directly through the WCOFF. You will receive the special discount rate of $119 per night (tax included) for Friday Night. For other nights, you will receive the prevailing rate (plus applicable taxes).

Didn't realize there was an Atlantic City draft locale for the WCOFF.....

We are excited to announce that the 2008 WCOFF (September 4-7) will be back on the Strip - at the newly renovated Las Vegas Hilton Hotel & Casino. If you have not been there since the 2005 WCOFF, the Las Vegas Hilton has undergone major renovations – close to $45 million worth!

They have renovated everything from their Deluxe Guest rooms with luxurious new beds, premium linens and plasma TVs, to upgrading the casino and meeting space areas…... to adding new restaurants like TJs Steakhouse and Casa Nicola, and new clubs like the Tempo Lounge. We think you’re going to like being back on the Strip at the “new” Las Vegas Hilton, and you’ll be able to get to virtually any place with a short Monorail trip or cab ride.

We are now taking reservations/deposits for the 2008 WCOFF Main Event. Just $100 reserves your spot. We have linked the registration form for your convenience (REGISTRATION FORM HERE). And if you are going to request a hotel room exemption, NOW is the time to do it. You can simply request your exemption when you send in your reservation form. We will be drawing exemption winners in early June, but we need the request and reservation form sent back by May 15.

We will announce the other WCOFF cities and event venues in the next couple weeks. In the meantime, you can email us questions at webmaster@wcoff.com. Thanks – we hope to see you at the WCOFF Main Event in just 6 short months!

The Vegas Hilton is hardly on the Strip..... but a lot closer than the South Point.

ETA: Well, they do have a few properties, so I could be thinking of the wrong one, but the main Hilton is off the strip near the Convention Center if memory serves.

Yeah and I'll literally be walking distance if I can get a room at the same place I booked for Darin's B-party.

It's on Paradise Rd., about 4 blocks to the strip via the Avenue of the Hiltons/Riviera Blvd.. I'm surprised they have no poker room. Most casinos are trying to expand what they have. I do know the LV Hilton shrunk their casino (at least tables) since the late 80's, early 90's when I used to stay there a lot.

Edit for:

Their sports book used to be one of the largest and best in Vegas. Could be a good place for the Sunday games. Watched many a MNF game there, plus they had a little grill area, w/ a great burger @ a reasonable price. Wonder if it's the same/similar? And during one stay, I found a Poker machine at the bar that I couldn't lose at. I pulled $100+/ day out of it and a bud of mine did the same. We did that 5 days straight. It was fantastic!

They opened it about two weeks before the last WCOFF that was there, and they closed it right around the end of last year.

Vegas is the place to be though.

Have you ever been to the Trop in A.C.? It's currently famous for the lack of toilet paper in the bathrooms and bed bugs in the guest rooms.

And they say Joisey ain't classy. . .
