The Irish Doggy
So, "we" want to make a slideshow to run during the first dance (about 4 minutes). If you can help steer me in the direction of an easy (free) program, I would greatly appreciate it. I'd like to be able to control how long each picture displays, maybe zoom in or out on pictures, and I need to be able to burn the slideshow to a DVD and play it on a DVD player. Actually, I just went through this. I was asked to put together a 90 minute slideshow for my Mom's 80th birthday. They sent me 900 pics and gave me two weeks to come up with it. I found out that there is software within Windows Vista that does all of this. You decide how long the pics stay on the screen, you add music, you decide how the pics change from one to the next (there are several options). One tip- when you burn the DVD, use a slower speed. It helps prevent glitches, or at least it did for me. Final product turned out great - I made about 100 of the DVD's and people were going apesh!t over them. Azazello1313
you can do it with windows movie maker. pretty easy to use and works fine. comes either standard with XP or with MS office, I believe.
twiley
Windows movie maker is your best bet. Apple has two real easy programs IMovie and IDVD that a blind fingerless idiot could use but if you don't have a MAC then it's pointless.
AtomicCEO
Windows Movie Maker. Or, you could pay me to do it. I'll do it better.
Azazello1313
how are you going to be displaying it at the wedding? if it's on a TV, then yeah, just go with the DVD, but if you're going to be projecting it on a screen you might think about also doing the slideshow in powerpoint or something, because the pictures will be displayed at a much higher resolution. just something else to think about. Hmmm... Az has a point there. That would be easy to create and higher resolution. You'd be stupid not to do it that way.

Its just going out to multiple flat screen TVs - all around 40 inches or so. I have pretty high quality images from digital cameras and scans of old family photos, so I don't think resolution will be a problem. They look crystal clear on a 22" monitor. I'll check movie maker out. Try DVD Slideshow. http://www.arcsoft.com/products/dvdslideshow/ There is a demo you can download that will do just what you want. You can add music too. Thanks for tips. I figured there had to be something available that I've just never used.
