Starting both O'Sullivan and Gore

San Fran hosts Detroit this week, and Detroit's defense is putrid. I figure if S.F can produce offensively against Seattle at Seattle, they have to roll against Detroit at home, right? Or, is starting both the QB and RB for a below-average team a mistake? My other QBs are Schaub and Cassel; I think Schaub has a tough opponent, and Cassel seems to be more in a game-management mode than a stats-producing mode. Any thoughts?

I'd stick with Schaub. Houston plays their divisional opponents tough lately, and Schaub has the one thing JTO doesn't... a premiere weapon at WR. I would not at all be surprised if JTO has more yards than Schaub, but I think Schaub has a much better chance of throwing a TD, or multiple TD's. On a good day, SF is going to score 3 touchdowns (even against DET)... you figure Gore is going to get 1-2 of those, and I could see the defense scoring again this week as well. Seems to be a trend with Kitna. Depends on how your league scores, but don't overthink things this early. I would give Schaub a shot until he proves that he isn't a decent fantasy QB... he's only had one game so far this year.

I guess my thinking is that Detroit has surrendered 82 points to opponents, while Tennessee (Schaub's opponent) has surrendered only 17 points. So, you figure S.F could easily score 30+ points at home against the Lions, and I bet all of those points (except for field goals) will either be TD passes by O'Sulllivan or runs by Gore. Sure, there could be a defensive TD, but those are not that common. I agree that Schaub, in general, gets the nod over O'Sullivan. But, this is an exteme difference between them in terms of matchups. And, similar to the New Orleans players in 2005 during the Katrina aftermath, it is hard to tell where the Texans' players heads are at, given they probably know people who have been displaced.

Actually, I was considering starting Cassel ahead of O'Sullivan more than Schaub. Cassel has a nice matchup, and he has the best weapons of the three. But, I assume that Belicheck will keep stressing to Cassel that he avoid mistakes, which means a conservative offense.

Hell yes, start anyone playing the Kittens, until they prove they can stop someone !! i am picking up J.T. myself in a league where I THOUGHT i was set with Palmer and Hasselbeck !!!

Yeah I think all of us who thought we would be ok with those guys are feeling the pain in week 3. I picked JTO off waivers, and he's my starter v. the Lions this week.
