matt770
So the Birds held a practice at the Linc last night and 30,000 fans showed up. Some observations: They ran a play several times with DeSean Jackson in motion, taking a direct snap and running to the outside. Looked very Wildcat-ish. Jackson looked sharp, catching everything and putting moves on DBs. It's just a practice but he had me thinking he could make quite a leap this year. The rest of the receivers looked decent, nothing spectacular. Maclin is not signed and was not there. Danny Amendola from last year's Hard Knocks is trying to make the team. He was returning punts and looked shifty and fast, and played with the third string offense as a slot receiver. Kolb missed a short little sideline route by about 10 feet, throwing it way out of bounds. Feely didn't look too spectacular either. McNabb was what you'd expect, cannon arm, good footwork, accurate for the most part. McCoy looked tentative and raw. Granted, it's only their 3rd practice in full pads but he couldn't get anything going. Someone named Eldra Buckley from Tennessee-Chattanooga had some nice runs. Did not see Cornelius Ingram make any catches. He was with the second group. Would have liked to see McNabb throw him some balls. Celek looked good and I assume is locked in as the #1 TE. Westbrook jogged out for player introductions but did not practice. He said he feels good and will be ready to go week 1. Assante Samuel also did not practice. Random fans were picked from the crowd to come onto the field, meet a player and receive his signed jersey from the practice. Afterwards there were fireworks. Santa Claus did not attend and there were only a few AA batteries thrown instead of the usual D's. j/k
i_am_the_swammi
Very nice write-up....one big item you didn't mention (or maybe didn't know about since you were there and the player walked off the field): Starting MLB Stewart Bradley left the practice with a right knee injury, and was quoted afterwards as saying he "heard something pop". Howard Eskin said on the NBC10 11:30PM Sports-Wrap that Eagles coaches are preparing for the worst. MRI is scheduled for first-thing this AM. if he is gone for the year with an ACL injury (he blew out his left knee in college), this is a hugh hugh blow to a defense already dealing with the losses of Dawkins and Jim Johnson. i_am_the_swammi
from ESPN last night: Eagles' Bradley, Hobbs to have MRIs Associated Press PHILADELPHIA -- Eagles middle linebacker Stewart Bradley injured his knee and cornerback Ellis Hobbs left with a stinger during practice Sunday night. NFC East blog ESPN.com's Matt Mosley writes about all things NFC East in his division blog. • Blog network: NFL Nation Both players will have MRI tests on Monday. Bradley left the field on his own after getting hurt about halfway through the session. The extent of his injury wasn't immediately known, though trainers appeared concerned. Bradley, a third-round pick in 2007, had 151 tackles in his first full season as a starter last year. He's the primary signal caller on a defense that already lost veteran safety Brian Dawkins in free agency. Hobbs, acquired in a trade with New England, is competing for a starting job with Sheldon Brown. A total of 31,786 fans came out to Lincoln Financial Field to watch the inaugural Eagles Flight Night. Proceeds from the event benefit the team's charities.

Whoa, I did totally miss that. Gaither next in line? Enough with the training camp injuries already. Also forgot to mention the Jim Johnson tribute, nice video package followed by a moment of silence. Very moving, and you could tell it affected the players, especially the defense. I'm sure they will do something similiar for the home opener.
