detlef Posted August 15, 2009 Share Posted August 15, 2009 It's as if it's someone's job at DMX to make sure their music mixes are lame enough. In part because I want to keep ASCAP and others off my back and my licenses are included in the cost of using DMX, I have their profusion X system for my restaurants. Rather than streaming, it's basically a hard drive full of music with up to 10 "channels". Every month, you get sent an update CD that changes things up a bit. Latin Jazz is obviously one of my channels for Dos Perros. When I first turned it on, I was stoked because they were playing a bunch of really cool stuff that I know from my own collection. However, every 10th song or so is unbearably lame. Like Kenny G plays Latin Jazz or something. It's someone's freaking job to put these mixes together and I simply can't fathom how someone seemingly cool enough to know some of the stuff they must know to pick the majority of the songs, decides to slip this crap in. Yesterday, I kid you not, there was an elevator samba version of "Physical" by Olivia Newton John. Sandwiched right between Mongo Santamaria doing Watermelon Man and Poncho Sanchez doing Co Co May May. What is freaking wrong with these people? If every 9th or 10th song in your mix is lame. A black woman at the PA park had a tattoo that said puddy.
