Crazysight
"Troy Williamson caught three passes for 147 yards and a touchdown against the Bucs in the Jaguars' second preseason game. Analysis: Williamson toasted the Bucs secondary for a 74-yard bomb on the first play of the game and came back later with another 61-yard gainer. Last weeks' four catches for 74 yards suggests the production may not be a fluke. The former bust has been starting opposite Torry Holt with Mike Walker sidelined (again), and he has a shot to keep the job." also: Troy Williamson was an outright bust in Minnesota, but he may become a perfect deep ball compliment to Torry Holt in Jacksonville. Saturday night, Williamson caught two bombs from quarterback David Garrard finishing with 147 yards receiving, highlighted by a 74-yard touchdown. Last Monday night, Williamson caught four passes for 74 yards in the Jaguars' preseason opener. “I am just out there working,” Williamson said. “I’m doing more and more stuff to get my confidence back up. I feel good and comfortable with the offense.” Analysis: The Jaguars overhauled their wide receiving corps this season by bringing in veteran Torry Holt, but didn't know who else would join him. Williamson, who is notorious for dropping the ball, has emerged as a surprise in Jaguars camp and is also competing with Mike Walker and three rookie receivers. Williamson's preseason performances should solidify a spot opposite Holt and could be a sleeper if he can continue to hold onto the ball and not revert to his old ways. I know this is just the preseason, but he's looking pretty solid so far. I noticed that his TD was in the first quarter to, ie. against the Bucs first team defense. The Holy Roller
I don't know about "buying" into him yet but definitely on the radar.

peepinmofo
I hope everyone picking before me buys into him. If someone is picking before you in round 15, and he turns out to be half way decent, then that sucks for you. No one is talking about taking him in the 1st part of the draft... Or are they? Crazysight
I already had my yearly dynasty draft and just picked him up off of waivers. I have a hole in my lineup for week 1 however for my last flex position and am thinking about plugging him in there as I don't have much for options there. That's what I mean for "buying into him" but its whatever you make of it. All I'm asking is how good (or bad) do people think he's going to be right now? It's kind of hard (if not simply foolish) to completely ignore 147 yards and a touchdown in just one half of play, preseason or not.
Savage Beatings
Just keep in mind that Williamson has pretty much always looked very good in the pre-season. His problem has always been that he can't handle the pressure of a real game. Maybe he has found a way to overcome that now, but I wouldn't put money on it. There's never been doubt that he has athletic talent, but we all know that talent doesn't always translate into consistent production. Caveat Emptor. Crazysight
Very true beatings. I'll stash him for now on my 30 man roster and go with someone different for week 1.
SheikYerbuti
This dude wins Pre-Season MVP every year. And then his hands turn to stone as soon as the season starts. Every year.

jaxfactor
Keep in mind that the Bucs have 7 new starters on D. I'm not sold on him just yet. But it is encouraging.
Crazysight
Sorry but I did have to fact check this, and the pre-season MVP thing really isn't true. http://www.nfl.com/schedules?seasonType=PR...mp;week=-1#Week I just looked at the last 3 preseasons. Last year he was with Jacksonville, the 2 prior in Minnesota. There is one mention of him being a top receiver during a game in the 2008 preseason in which he had a total of only 80-something yards. The 2 years prior to that he hadn't been listed as a top receiver in any of the 8 preseason games. He is older now, and he was a first round selection years back. He should be kept on the fantasy radar in deep leagues, at any rate. Edited August 23, 2009 by Crazysight
Mystykoekaki
He would make a great player if you want to win the toilet bowl in your league!
The Holy Roller
I just took him with the last pick of the 15th round (Mr. Irrelevant) in my first draft of the season. I hope he BLOOOOOOOOOOOWS up and goes for 75 catches, 1300 yards and 10 TDs. I'll thank this thread.
Randall
Should I buy into him? Go right ahead. Take a late round flyer.

CaP'N GRuNGe
As a Viking fan I should know better, but I just grabbed him really late for a dynasty team. Hey, he's still young and does have some talent, right? (Rotoworld) Coach Jack Del Rio suggested that WR Troy Williamson has had an epiphany with the Jags this summer. Analysis: "There are players that maybe don't burst upon the scene their first year in the league, but maybe after bouncing from a team or two, they end up finding a home and end up flourishing ... I think he's had a great camp," Del Rio said. The deep threat is starting to look like the Week 1 stater opposite Torry Holt.

Mike Vick has a better chance of being the comeback player of the year than Williamson being fantasy relevant any time soon. File Williamson under 'let someone else draft'. Crazysight
I'm definitely skeptical here but I'll keep him for now as my 30th man on my 30 man roster.. Total busts generally don't unbust but he had to have some ability to become the 7th overall pick in the 2005 draft. I'll keep my fingers crossed with him and if I don't see anything early in the season will just waive him and pick up somebody else. Later rounds he will 100% be drafted, but I think the topic meant earlier than expected to assure a roster spot on your team. I wouldn;t reach for him but like you say, if hes there later why not.
