detlef
I googled it and didn't find any rationale for why that phrase should mean that two people (or in many cases) teams hate one another. If there was no love lost, wouldn't there be plenty of love? I could see the phrase, "There's no love between these two teams." Well, actually that would at least be accurate, but still an odd way of explaining that two teams hated one another. There are countless number of people whom I don't "love" but harbor absolutely no ill will towards. Anyone understand why this popular phrase is intended to mean what it does? MrTed46
It's sarcastic, no love lost when in fact there was no love to begin with. You can't lose what you never had. I like it actually.
Double Agent
If you and someone you don't care for never speak again, there's no love lost because love was never there. That's the way I always understood it.
