theeohiostate
I do a lot of texting this time of the season with draft updates, so I did a little digging to see if I could send a text message to a cell phone by way of my email account. The answer is yes. It is so much easier to type from my keyboard or copy and paste messages or links, then trying on a cell phone. Anyone interested in doing so http://www.slipstick.com/outlook/smscell.htm The major US cellular carriers use the 10_digit_number@cell.carrier_domain.com format for SMS to text capable cell phones, with a limit of 160 characters in the subject and message body (total). Carrier Send Email to phonenumber@.... Alltel @message.alltel.com AT&T @mms.att.net Nextel @messaging.nextel.com Sprint @messaging.sprintpcs.com SunCom @tms.suncom.com T-mobile @tmomail.net VoiceStream @voicestream.net Verizon @vtext.com (text only) @vzwpix.com (pictures and videos) Verizon users can register an alias at vtext.com to give out instead of their phone number. Both alias@vtext.com and phone_number@vtext.com will be valid addresses for the phone. Gonkis
I use it a lot to tell parents if there are last minute changes to sporting schedules. I was amazed how many people don't have an e-mail address, so this saves me upwards of 10 phones calls. I wasn't aware of the vzwpix one, thanks. tazinib1
You can also find out your friends carrier, go to that carriers website (t-mobile for example) and text directly from your computer to there phone.
I Like Soup
Yeah, they've had this capability for quite some time. I guess it isn't really brought up since it would take away some texts on the send side!
peepinmofo
Add to the list: metroPCS @mymetropcs.com
AtomicCEO
I disabled this with T-Mobile because I was getting a lot of spam through it... and paying 10c a pop for the pleasure.
