LayLow
Post-game X-rays on Maurice Jones-Drew's shin were negative, and coach Jack Del Rio sounded confident that the injury is merely a deep bruise. He's scheduled to undergo an MRI on Friday, but it sounds precautionary in nature. "He had a 'UFC shot' to the shin or lower leg and it's bruised," Del Rio said. "Maurice was a little frustrated by the hit and he wanted to get his hands on the guy, I can tell you that." Del Rio added that MJD is a little sore, "but he'll be OK." Stay tuned for Friday's update. Sep. 3 - 11:31 pm et
Blumpkinator
He will be fine. Soccer players get contusions all the time from getting kicked. I myself had a nasty one on the side of my leg outside of my shin going in for a layup on the bball court and getting kicked there. It hurts but was fine after about 5 days. LayLow
The MRI on Maurice Jones-Drew's "lower extremity" came back negative, meaning his injury is only a bruise. This is what Jack Del Rio suspected, but an MRI today confirmed it. Jones-Drew simply has a bruise and will be fine for Week 1. Everyone who took him in No. 1 or 2 overall can breath a sigh of relief. The scare is still somewhat of a reminder that Jones-Drew has never been "the man" before and is bound to take some extra nicks this season.
