Grits and Shins
The last several weekends have had us traveling to prospective colleges for my 17 year old daughter. My son is only 14 but has long wanted to follow in my foot steps and attend Texas A&M. I have been remiss and have not ever taken him down to A&M. So, being off this week, I decided we would take a day trip down to A&M. The first thing we did was pay our respects to the Aggies that lost their lives in the bonfire at the Memorial. Then we grabbed lunch at the Dixie Chicken. Wandered down to the make shift book store in the old gym. Caught the Elephant Walk Wandered onto Kyle Field ... my son ran out and touched the end zone (and we got yelled at ... but it was worth it) Went into the All Faiths Chapel where his mother and I were married. Caught the Elephant Walk again Stopped into the McDonalds where his mother and I first met. Wandered onto Olsen Field ... my son went out and touched the infield Returned home ... it was a good day. Chief Dick
That is definitely a good day. I have a long way to go before my boys are old enough to do stuff like that. Very cool.
