rajncajn
Saints-Pats game draws second-most viewers in cable TV history BRISTOL, Conn. -- The New Orleans Saints' Monday night victory over the New England Patriots was the second-most-watched cable telecast of all time. The Saints' 38-17 victory that improved them to 11-0 was seen by 21.4 million viewers on ESPN, second only to the 21.8 million for the Green Bay Packers-Minnesota Vikings game Oct. 5. The Saints-Patriots game's 15.0 rating was the second-highest in the network's 30-year history, also second to that Packers-Vikings game, which earned a 15.3. The Saints-Patriots game earned a combined 66.7 rating in New Orleans between the broadcast on ESPN and the simulcast on the local NBC affiliate. STL Fan
Saints-Pats game draws second-most viewers in cable TV history Wonder what that number was by the end of the third quarter? I guess Bill's secret videotapes of the Saints practices got ruined or something.

STL Fan
You're a jerk, too. I just decided. BTW, you guys have the closest thing I've ever seen to our "Greatest Show" days and I can tell you it's fleeting. Enjoy it while it lasts. STL Fan
I forgot all about that play. It's funny how you black out stuff like that. I'm just glad the Saints capitalized on that trip to the playoffs with a much-deserved Championship. Oh, yeah, sorry. Maybe this year! Actually known to be one of the greatest calls(Jim Henderson) in Saints history. I know, I know... few & far between blah, blah, blah. It was a tremendous call. I also love the calls posted recently by Bobby Hebert. It's obvious the whole city is excited. Man, I miss that. I hope it's not too long before it's back again. Avernus
I'm sorry but the Saints are much better than the Rams were. The Saints have a D ETA - waiting for super bowl ring argument to pop up 99 Rams had a top 5 D
STL Fan
99 Rams had a top 5 D In fairness, I've argued in the past that the defense on that Rams team was overrated because the offense was so potent, the other teams got behind early and often and had to become one-dimensional to try and catch up. Anyone who's ever played defense will tell you that the easiest thing to do as a D is to play against a team when you know what they are going to do. That doesn't mean they were a bad D, just a little overrated. My gut feeling in watching NO this year is that this is to a lesser extent the case with their D although they seem to be better than the Rams D back in the day. Now if you want to point out differences, PT, Reggie and Bell aren't in the same conversation as Marshall, and I don't think Colston and the bunch will be remembered in the future the way Holt and Bruce are. We'll see, but I doubt it right now. Brees is money.
rajncajn
Another interesting stat, and one I think they should be most proud of, is the Saints don't have a single player in the top ten for receiving or rushing yards, but yet the team is ranked 5th in both categories. This is one of the things that reminds me of the Rams heyday. Warner would go out there and complete passes to 10 or 12 guys and really spread the ball around. They didn't spread the carries around like the Saints do, but then again as mentioned, the Saints don't have Marshall back there. The phrase back in the day in STL was "Who You Gonna Cover?" There were even T-shirts with that slogan on it that had the entire receiving corps listed on the back, including the running backs. NO this year could print the same shirt. It's tough to defend an offense that will literally throw the ball to anyone in any situation.
