kcmast
Brees throws interception. During return, Meachem strips the ball and runs it in. Just noticed that ESPN has scored it as DEF TD.

I just asked the same question. I really don't know.

Yep, I think that's how the NFL considers it. Once Washington makes the interception, New Orleans technically becomes the defensive team. Rebel Alliance
Brees throws interception. During return, Meachem strips the ball and runs it in. Just noticed that ESPN has scored it as DEF TD. ESPN also counts this a Points Allowed by the Washington Def. They do this for all TDs where there is a Defensive TD (point allowed against the offensive team's defense). Their philosophy as explained to me last week is that the "offense" becomes the "defense" and thus allowed the points. They have no way to track the actual Points Allowed by a Team DEF. Their recommendation was to submit a suggestion for next year. 10 years ago we might not have been able to track this, but Fanball does it without issue.
