Perchoutofwater
The BCS may not be with us long. I hate the BCS, but don't think the government should get involved.

detlef
Why is it that people have a knee jerk reaction against the gov't getting involved in sports. They inspect and rule upon any number of other businesses and what are pro and major college sports but just another business. Congress getting involved with steroids was sort of like a combination of labor protection (though oddly enough, from themselves) and fair competition a la policing insider trading. If it can be proven that the BCS violates anti-trust laws, why shouldn't they be punished?
BS Miscreant
Why is it that people have a knee jerk reaction against the gov't getting involved in sports. Congress getting involved with steroids was sort of like a combination of labor protection (though oddly enough, from themselves) and fair competition a la policing insider trading. If it can be proven that the BCS violates anti-trust laws, why shouldn't they be punished? Exactly. I think this is where most people are missing the whole point of a congressional investigation. This isn't about football. It's about potentially bad, illegal business practices.
