GWPFFL BrianW
As some of you know, I've been a proponent of a 12 team playoff. I've tweaked it a bit over the years but it has relatively stayed the same. * Top 4 BCS Conference Champions get 1st round byes based on the BCS Standings * No limit on how many teams a conference can get * Would try to avoid match ups between conference rivals within the first 2 rounds. Sometimes it is impossible to avoid * Your top 6 would feature the aforementioned Top 4, plus the final 2 BCS Conference Champions would receive automatic bids and be seeds 5 and 6 I would also be open to simply re-seed after the 1st round as well, but here is how the BCS-era would've shaped out, based on the final BCS Standings of each season. Try and tell me you folks wouldn't have been loving some of those match ups and potential match ups. If I made any mistakes, then by all means point them out, but I for one would love this. It gives enough regular season incentive to all involved, and the poor little trash mid majors like Boise would have their "one shining moment" as well. 1998 1. Tennessee -- SEC Champions 2. Rockerbraves
Guess it's abit to early to debate college football playoffs, but I really appreciate your thoughts on this topic. I'm on record as to preferring a plus one game because I prefer to keep the excitement of the regular season intact. That being said, I use to think the more teams enter the playoffs the not so better because I don't think the 12th team even deserved a chance to win it all. However after reviewing your playoff scenerio I see the 5th thru 8th seeded teams don't have it as nice as the 1st thru 4th seed teams since they have an extra game. Even though you could accomplish the same thing bt having just 8 teams and the 5th thru 8th teams play an extra game but to me if you are going to go 8 teams deep and cheapen the regular season, then why not 12 teams. Much like NFL, MLB, NBA, NHL
