Honest question. If LSU beats Arkansas do they move up in your ranking and Arkansas drop? And what happens in your ranking should the Hogs win and the Tigers lose?

OK, I'll play.

There are a lot of factors that would come into play with today's games not being played yet.

If LSU beats Arkansas and Stanford has a close game with Oregon State today but beats them I would put LSU above Stanford into the #4 spot. This would be based on the fact that beating Arkansas on their field would be a much better quality win then Stanford beating Oregon State at home.

If LSU loses I would have to drop them somewhere around 8-11 (probably #9), but again it matters what the teams behind them do today.

How about we get to the implication of your question ....." Why do you rank Stanford above LSU?" I would agree that LSU has faced the tougher schedule. They have both lost one game. Stanford to Oregon in a game that was hotly contested until about 5 minutes left in the 3rd quarter on the road and LSU on the road to Auburn in a close game. Stanford's margin of victory is 25 points. LSU's = 14 points. Lsu has only played 4 games away from home while Stanford has played 6 games away from home.

Stanfords out of conference games: Sacramento State, Wake Forest and Notre Dame (away). Margin of victory - 34 points

LSU O.O.C. = North Carolina (neutral field, half of NC starters were suspended), West Virginia, McNeese St, Louisiana Monroe. MOV = 20 points

You know as well as I do that LSU has struggled to win many close games and they had a lot of things go their way at the end of games to pull out close games. Need to look no further than the Tennessee game, or the Florida game ... the overhead pitch on the FG attempt late in the game to the FG kicker that bounced straight up off the ground to his waiting arms. The LSU defense is very good as is the Stanford defense. There is one major difference between these two teamsand that is at the QB position. Andrew Luck is head and shoulders above any of the LSU QB's the Tigers roll out there. I would also say, with confidence, that I'd rather have Harbaugh on the sidelines than Les Miles, who multiple times has shown to be unprepared at crucial times with time management. On a neutral field Stanford beats LSU.

Don't brush off Stanford's lost so easily. 52-31 is pretty convincing while LSU only lost was by a TD. That is significant.

OK, I even take that back.

Don't, Florida is just that bad this year, as is the balance of the SEC.

This is a conference that is going to get hammered in the bowl games, hammered.

Well, nobody is any better and FSU did beat them handily. At least enough to legitimize a top 20 ranking.

Sad but true that the SEC's OOC victories vs WVU and A&M place them above everyone else in terms of conferences proving themselves against the rest.

That's tougher than you'd think. Especially by the time you get to the mid teens. The local guy here has an AP vote and puts teams in front of teams they beat, to a fault. But that's easier said than done. I think you'd have to do it if you were talking about two teams at the absolute top. But I think it's OK to ignore that as you move down a bit. For instance, I can't put MSU ahead of Wisc nor Nevada ahead of BSU.

As I stated in my opener, this was My Top 20 prior to this weekends games but after just watching the taped Auburn-Alabama game for the first time I think that I would have to place Auburn ahead of Oregon. Their interior lines are impressive and I think Oregon might struggle with them. I think the difference if these 2 teams face off is if Oregon can wear Auburn's defense down with sustained drives. I don't believe anyone, including Auburn, can play at Oregon's pace. If Oregon can consistently move the chains Auburn will be gassed in the latter stages of the game. It would be a great game and I'm hoping we see it.

that seems hard to do

texas a&m > oklahoma/nebraska

oklahoma state > texas a&m

oklahoma state < nebraska/oklahoma

texas > nebraska

ou/osu > texas

missouri > oklahoma

nebraska > missouri

i dont quite see how he could manage to do that and keep it in line all season...
