The Irish Doggy
not just a rumor anymore MOBILE, Ala. — Bengals president Mike Brown said on Monday that Carson Palmer met with him a little over a week ago and asked for a trade. Brown also said that he told Palmer that it would not be something that the team would consider doing at this time. “He is key to our plans, he’s central to us,” Brown said. “He was told that and that we count on him going forward. He was told that we are not in a position to trade him.” When asked if he thought Palmer would go through with his plans to retire if he didn’t get traded, Brown said that whole idea seemed impractical. “We’ll just have to see how it plays out,” Brown said. “We’ll reach out to him and understand the things that are in his craw. Maybe there are things we can do that will appeal to him. We’ll try to and see whether we can get it fit back together again in the future.” According to Brown, the meeting was amicable and that Palmer “didn’t finger anyone or anything. … He’s a great player and equally a fine person.” This past season Palmer set a team record for pass attempts with 586, completing 362 (61.8 percent) for 3970 yards with 26 touchdowns and 20 interceptions (passer rating of 82.4). The interceptions tied a career high and five of those were returned for touchdowns. Can't say that I blame him.
Seahawks21
Bring him and his no-confidence self out west to Arizona or SF!!
Shorttynaz
Arizona Cardinals, here we come! Not at all saying Palmer is the answer, but he's a stopgap and ANYTHING is better than what was put out there this season.. As someone who follows the Cardinals more than most, I'd MUCH rather have Palmer over D McNabb - who has also been popping around in rumors to have an interest in playing out here - after all, he does live in the Phoenix area. And not to hijack this thread (although I am), there are numerous rumors that keep coming up on local radio about the Cardinals trading a 2nd and a 5th to the Eagles for Kolb and their 4th. This is all speculation, and if no CBA is set by March 4th, it's not gonna happen anyway. Edited January 24, 2011 by Shorttynaz

kpholmes
SF seems like the perfect fit. Feel bad for the guy, wasting his career away in Cinncy.
Shorttynaz
I really think Troy Smith can excell in San Fransisco given full reigns of that offense and full support of the coaching staff.
MustOfBeenDrunk
Bengals owner says team not trading Palmer Carson Palmer - QB - CIN - Jan. 24 - 11:20 a.m. ET Bengals owner Mike Brown said that "we are not trading Carson [Palmer]." Brown did admit that Palmer met with the Bengals last week about a trade, confirming Chris Mortensen's report that the quarterback wants out of Cincy. By saying today that they won't be trading Palmer, Brown wisely held some shred of leverage in trade talks. Still, the Bengals won't be able to bring back much for their dead-armed veteran. This situation won't be resolved anytime soon as no trades can be completed until a new CBA is reached. Source: Bengals on Twitter

kpholmes
I don't. +1 In addition to that, I don't think he's Harbaugh's first choice.

It's tough to take Cincinnati seriously.
