i_am_the_swammi
Please. Nobody has ever proven that. And even if it were true, what are they gonna do? send an army of wiegie-sized hit men to try to collect?
Clubfoothead
Seems pretty obvious to me that if the debt level is truly a crisis the only solution is a combination of spending cuts (which I don't care for) and increasing taxes (which may suprise you but I don't care for either). Anything short is playing politics and if we are going to continue playing politics with the issue then it isn't truly a crisis. The vast majority of US debt is owed to Americans. China is effectively our largest minority shareholder - contrary to popular belief, they do not "own" us. That's not to say 14 Trillion is debt isn't a problem. But China isn't quite the boogeyman most people think.

bushwacked
The ones where he was pointing out that a two front war combined with tax cuts was problematic? Yup, and you can read Az at the same time period on how those tax cuts were going to be the foundation for a robust economy.
Azazello1313
The ones where he was pointing out that a two front war combined with tax cuts was problematic? and a $375 billion deficit! ZZZMOG!! If you want to know how much stimulus the Bush tax plan has had on jobs, just do the math: Under Bush's economic plan, the economy racked up a $375,300,000,000 dollar deficit during the 2003 fiscal year. During that same period the economy actually lost 403,000 jobs**. Very impressive. This fiscal year we are on track to incur a deficit of at least $500,000,000,000 and add 1,641,000 jobs--which works out to $304,581 per job created. Only an absolute idiot would call that a successful stimulus plan.
Azazello1313
Yup, and you can read Az at the same time period on how those tax cuts were going to be the foundation for a robust economy. the primary difference of course being deficits of $400 billion versus $1.5 trillion, a "jobless recovery" with 4.7% unemployment versus 9%, and so on. Ursa Majoris
the primary difference of course being deficits of $400 billion versus $1.5 trillion Which has nothing whatsoever to do with tax cuts, of course.
