Dutch Auction...anyone?

Recommended Posts

Anyone ever use one for a fantasy draft? It's when the auctioneer, and I think you'd need a non-owner auctioneer, or software, starts at a very high price and lowers it until someone is willing to accept(bid) on that player.

They are supposed to be faster without all the bidding. You just shout when you accept the bid.

I bet it would work really well for a simple live chat room auction. You'd have accept typed into the chat box and when you were willing to pay the amount asked for you hit "enter".

That is fascinating. Truly.

As an auctioneer many times, I find the idea very cool at least for all the top players. But the auctioneer would have to be someone not in the auction. Be fun to see who would be first to jump in to claim the bid versus playing a waiting game to see how cheaply you could get someone. Would love to hear the experiences if anyone did this.

I've been thinking about it for a while now, but have no auction leagues lined up. The auctioneer could really challenge the league by the order he brought players up for bid. You'd need to be prepared and on your toes for anything. I mean a fantasy knowledgable guy could really bring up players in an order to screw with owners, all owners, heads.

Of course if the league wanted it could be a predetermined order of players. That would be boring.

You'd also need a list, perhaps sealed, of players to bring up at the end if they weren't brought up for bids.
