gilthorp
I don't think I can watch this product anymore. I know my interest has peaked at this point. Flags all over the place. Hits on QB's that are bang/bang plays with flags, and reviews for plays that stall the game and water down the entire product. I am a Bears fan. The penalty on the roughing the QB that just took place is potentially the worse call I've ever seen. It's past pathetic, and if this is the way it's going, congratulations NFL, you've lost...or are losing another fan.
SecondString
Roger that...terrible call, they HAVE to start letting these guys play a little bit.
jbran23
Saw the call against St Louis. About a clean a hit as you can possibly have. Negated a possible fumble and TD going the other way and the Bears punch it in a few plays later. 14 point swing. Unbelievable call. Then saw the play in the Browns game where Campbell got hit right in the face and fumbled. Left the game injured. No call. SMH
gilthorp
Campbell take an unintentional punch to the face and fumbles. It's a football play - no penalty. The way it used to be. McCown gets drilled, not roughing - they throw a flag. I'm glad the call didn't affect the outcome of the Bears' game. The Bears defense is as bad as any in the league - no amount of help from the refs should allow them to win this game or represent the league in the playoffs. jbran23
The consistency on these calls is what is bothering me. Just in the past 2 weeks. The hit on Brees was called and fined. The next week New Orleans hits matt Ryan in the facemask, then grabs him around the neck and tosses him to the ground without a flag. Now today in two separate games. One flagged and causing a 14 point swing. The other not and the resulting play injured the QB forcing him from the game.

Regardless if the hit in the face on Campbell was unintentional it has to be flagged. There HAS to be consistency. You cant flag one play and not another. Hicks did hit him in the face mask & a penalty should have been called based on the rules, but that was pretty much it as far as being an illegal hit. Bronco Billy
You're going to enjoy your life more Gil. When the NFL played only Sunday afternoons with the single MNF exception I would be watching football from pre-game an hour before the first flight until an hour after the end of the second flight watching highlights. Now with the diminished product you're speaking to as well as the ridiculous over-saturation with Thursday nights, Sunday nights, and sometimes 2 games on Monday I find myself only setting aside time to watch GB or DEN games. Yesterday I didn't watch literally one minute of any game until the DEN NE game started and only checked scores a couple times on my phone during the day. I enjoyed my day a lot more than subjecting myself to hours of watching games that are a pale comparison to the football I used to watch. Try it - you'll enjoy your weekends more, trust me, and you won't feel as frustrated by watching a game played by self aggrandizing egomaniacs and decided by ref's whims. The NFL thought they always had guys like me locked into their demographics, so they took their product a whole new direction to try to capture new demographics. Well, you lost me and I think you're losing a lot of guys like me. To gain what, exactly? Edited November 25, 2013 by Bronco Billy
CaptainHook
Sadly, I agree. The "defenseless receiver" penalties and "roughing the quarterback" penalties are just completely out of hand. Darius Butler had one called on him yesterday . . . the pass was thrown to the inside receiver, and he was the outside CB, he turns around to find the ball, and he and the receiver collide. A bang-bang play. Happens in a split second. 15 yard penalty. Are you trucking serious? It's completely out of hand and ridiculous.
