Record TieBreaker?

Guys,

I run a 12 team league and 4 teams make the playoffs by record and 2 by points. I have a 3 way tie at 6-6 for the last spot by record. My rules state the tiebreaker goes head to head and then points. Here are the records against for each team. I would appreciate all of your opinions on how I should handle this.

Team A 1-1 vs Team B 0-1 vs Team C

Team B 1-1 vs Team A 1-0 vs Team C

Team C 1-0 vs Team A 0-1 vs Team B

My concern is the fact that Team C has only played 2 games as opposed to the 3 that both A & B played. Because of this I assume I should go to total points as the tie breaker. Team B is claiming that he should have the 4th seed as he beat team C and Team A didn't.

Again I appreciate your help.

the easiest way to do a 12 teamer is 3 divisions of 4, all division winner make playoffs and 1 wildcard. That si assuming you use divisions. in this case, since it is a 3 way tie, and no team beat both teams, it shoudl go to points. If team B was 2-0 against Team A, i woudl say ti is his, but you have to go to points. Ive been down this road plenty of times.

I'm not a fan of divisions. I think if a few teams have the same record it should just come down to points scored for the season. We had 5 or 6 teams end up 6-6 in my league, but only the highest scoring one made it. This rewards production throughout the season rather than flukey matchups.
