sksmith
JStew looking like a good RB2 option now...use he and Cam correctly, could produce numbers similar to what Alf does/did with RG3 under center
SoxBandit
No way are they putting all their eggs in JStew's basket, no matter how good he can look when healthy. IMO, it seems like a great spot for a 1st round pick in the draft to land...or perhaps DeMarco Murray for the next 4 years? This is a team that doesn't really need a lot of defensive help. A top RB to pair with Cam/Benjamin/Olsen could make this offense exceptional.

sksmith
Unless they were fully decimated by injuries throughout the year, that o-line seems to need the more immediate attention; they need a second WR option, too...maybe go after Gore to have support, or Vereen if the Pats let him walk

Dolphin_Akie
um..he can't stay healthy???? Exactly. I think Mike Tolbert might see the boot and they draft a RB in the mid rounds to share the load with JStew.

Savage Beatings
And there you have it... Rivera is now saying Stewart will be limited to a max of 15 carries, and that they will look to draft another RB. I mean it makes sense given his recent lack of durability, but man... what a sad career of unfulfilled potential for Stewart.
DMD
Agreed - Coming out of Oregon he was the 1.13 pick in 2008. Ran a 4.4/40 at the combine at 235 pounds. Injuries and Cam Newton were enough to ruin his potential aside from the surprising choice of almost never running him more than 180 times a season even when healthy and gaining between 4.5 and 5.5 YPC. They won't give it to him 15 times a game. That would be 240 carries in a year and he's never had more than 221 times back when he was 22. I mean it makes sense given his recent lack of durability, but man... what a sad career of unfulfilled potential for Stewart. not to mention a poorly, mismanaged team. Already overpaying 2RBs, then adding Tolbert, now planning to add another RB probably early in draft. Holy foolish
BA Baracus
If Stew runs like he did late last season, they will be hard pressed to take him off the field. Drafting a RB is just prudent given his injury history.
Dolphin_Akie
I never believe coachspeak. In the off season, lots of coaches say they're going to limit their starting running back's carries. I'll believe it when I see it. Or they say they're going to give their RB the ball 30 times per game minimum, almost never happens.
DMD
There were only 12 times last year that a RB ran 30 times in a game and other than Murray (3) no one had more than one. More than 25 times only happened 33 times.

That's the max in an single game. There will be some where he gets 8-10...and others where he gets zero because he is inactive due to a "lower leg strain". stevegrab
Or they say they're going to give their RB the ball 30 times per game minimum, almost never happens. Or the say the clear starting QB for the last few years will need to compete with the backup for the starting job (John Fox said that Cutler will have to compete with Clausen for the starting QB slot). dope man
Drafting runningbacks and paying them on the rookie scale is the way most teams are going to business from now on....just let them walk after their rookie contract...running backs are easy to find to plug in if needed, Dave Gettleman is just cleaning up the mess that Hurney made in Charlotte and he is doing it the right way. They are freeing up money to sign Cam, Luke and T.Davis to contract extensions. That's all!
