If he isn't cut before this season, he is guaranteed $10 million for 2016. So if a team wants him, they'll have to pay him $26 million for 2 years. No team will even give a 7th rounder for him. Brees, on the other hand, is worth at least two 1st round picks, if not more. Maybe way more. Correct. We'd need to just cut him loose to be rid of him. No one will trade anything for that monster, backended deal...unless there was a deal in place with the new team to restructure prior to his arrival. To you second point, if you think anyone will give you "way more" than two #1s for Brees, at this point in his career, you are on crack.
