Potko
First year doing a guillotine league. For those that don’t know it’s a weekly matchup against the field. Lowest scoring team gets eliminated and their team drops to waivers. Question is that it’s ppr and 6 point passing td scoring. I have 11th pick. Plan on going rb or wr with my first pick. Is it crazy to take Rodgers in the top of the 2nd? Given that QB is the highest scoring position and with the 6pt passing td scoring, it makes sense to me to grab in theory the highest scoring player. My other positions may be weak at first but over the first couple weeks I could load up on players dropped from eliminated teams. My fear is if I wait to take qb to the third round somebody might grab up Rodgers/Brady before I can. What would you do?
Montana is da Man
yes, it's crazy. In order to succeed, in my opinion, you need to be the strongest at the position with the fewest good players. I'd advise to go RB / RB at 11 and 18. When your 3rd round pick comes up, pick # 39, there will not be any decent RBs left
Potko
My thoughts are tho that I don’t have to be the top scoring team. I just can’t come in last. Securing a top QB in a 6pt passing td league would help that no? And I’d try to address my RB situation with waivers in the upcoming weeks. I suppose I could just potentially take the top qb left at #39 and use 11/18 to take running backs

That's my opinion but I play in 6 pt TD leagues for QBs and RB's are still the first to go off the board and no QB gets drafted until the 3rd round. oG1KeNoBi
I see what you're saying but I would let someone else waste a 1st or 2nd round pick getting Rodgers. I'd only get Rodgers if he fell to me at your turn of the 3rd round or your turn of the 4th round. Because once these QBs start going, you can amways draft other great RB/WR/TE and wait to get a QB like Rivers, Big Ben, or even Alex Smith and you will be just fine. DA_BUDMAN
its an interesting theory which has some merit...I think also key in this is what type of waiver wire do you have? For example if its blind bidding it would be hella interesting to see what teams do with their fa money early on depending on whose available....If its a tumbler waiver wire I would expect that you would have second waiver priority (reverse order of the draft) If thats the case you can expect to get a really good RB by week 3 or 4 at the latest just by sitting pat.....In that case picking the uber stud QB makes some sense.... In general I would guess drafting according to early/first half of the season would keep you in this thing while you get a stronger end of year team. Having never done one of these I suspect player vaalue would be more in line with smaller 8-10 team leagues vs 12 team leagues. The reason I say this is that your goal to win should be to build a team full of uber studs as time goes on..... meanwhile walking a tightrope staying alive. I would say reaching for the ubers.... makes some sense.
