Kickers ranking and streaming strategy

I'll spare the long diatribe that I was going to type.  Here's the thumbnail version.  I'd appreciate your thoughts on it:

Kickers rankings are somewhat contrarian.  Whereas team that scores a lot of TD's has the potential for a bunch of 1 pointers for your kicker,

A very difficult opponent, with a great D, increases the chances of kicking FG's instead of PAT's... and potentially long ones.

SO, choosing a K vs a tough opponent is sound strategy.

Thoughts?

But you have to get close enough to kick the field goal.

I've done anaylsis on kickers a few times in the past, and the only factor that was consistently and somewhat reliably true is that the top kickers in a week are from teams that win their games. Losing teams tend to not only have fewer kicks anyway, but at the end of their games they are more likely to go for a TD than a FG when they are behind. Teams that are ahead will often end up with a field goal because they are just killing the clock and then taking the three.

but don't you all miss that guy who always drafts Tucker in round 7?

every league has "that guy".    It wouldn't be fantasy football without a premature Tucker draft pick.

That and whatever the top defense was from the previous season going like 4 rounds before any other.

Yeah.  We have  a guy in an auction league that will throw out the Bears D about 20 picks into the draft.  It's a joke, he always overpays to get them but he loves to be able to root for them every week.  (We are all Bears fans.)

It makes him happy.  There's sentimental value in that, along with added draft value for all the other teams to share. ;)

That, IMO, is the essence of FF.  Pick who and what you want, to root for who and what you want.
