Sounds outlandish I know but it would be nothing short of a miracle for that scenario to come to fruition. I know, one can dream though. I'm trying to hold on to the idea that they WON'T draft Jones. Is John Lynch a Jedi Knight or something? Even if he were I think Saleh is one of those guys who aren't impacted by Jedi mind tricks. But hey you also thought young Shanny was going to walk in and just waltz to a SB title somehow, now you're ready to have him fired if he doesn't pick the QB you wanted. Docniner
Yes saying he should be fired is a little harsh. Just not happy with them picking Jones. Maybe they know or see something others don't see in Jones and Shanny figures he can make this kid a probowler and franchise QB. We'll have to wait and see on that but all my complaining ain't gonna make them change their pick of Jones so I'll have to be content and believe that Shannahan can make Jones a better QB than Garoppolo. Even though I still think they gave up a lot to move up to #3 I hope for Lynch and Shanny's sake they get the pick right.

He looks like he can get the ball off quickly and looks like he can make all the routine plays I just am not seeing the higher end skill to justify the pick. Also I imagine the Niners are fully aware of the negative perception. There is some risk to them if they pick Jones and he bombs so they may change their minds even if Shanny is enamored. Docniner
Found out a little tidbit about the 49ers scouting of the rookie QB's. John Lynch and Shanahan were standing right next to Nick Saban during Jones' pro day and never asked Saban one question about the QB. However when attending Justin Fields pro day Lynch and Shanahan were frequently in the ear of Fields' QB coach. Hmmmm, what I get from that is there may be more interest in Fields than Jones for the 49ers number three pick.

Let's hope so.

Or it could just mean they had some questions about Fields and didn't have any about Jones, or asked them earlier. Or maybe one of them is friends with Fields's QB and were just catching up. People read so much into every little thing, fed by the sports media and talking heads who are paid handsomely to keep the NFL front and center 24/7/365. Either way maybe this story will help you to relax https://sports.yahoo.com/nfl-draft-betting-49-ers-fans-take-heart-odds-on-mac-jones-at-no-3-finally-dipped-a-bit-140024566.html You're right about one thing, all your complaining about it here won't matter to the 49ers brass. You need to have some trust in the football people running your team, even if they seem like complete idiots and you disagree with every decision. You need to accept they know a ton more about football than any fan. Yes even if you played HS football and scored 4TDs in the state title game. Every fan on the planet knew that it was a mistake when the Bears traded up for Trubisky. But Pace had to be the smartest guy in the room and pull the trigger anyway. Howie Roseman is Philly's GM. He doesn't have a second of experience. What makes him smarter than anyone else? He's a stunad.

Did every team that passed on Tom Brady multiple times in the draft KNOW he'd be a horrible QB? I guess they were all idiots As for Roseman, he had experience with an NFL team before being hired as GM, he stared off with the Eagles in 2000 working on salary caps, and moved up thru various positions with the team. While you have ZERO EXPERIENCE working in the NFL, but somehow you know more than him. Far too many fans are way too full of themselves, you're certainly one of them. I get it, being a blowhard complaining about your team's decisions is part of being a fan, but when you actually say you know more than these guys, and they have no experience after 2 decades working in the NFL you just look like a fool. You're thinking of Joe Banner. Howie Roseman was ordering shoulder pads and socks 20 years ago. And how does being a salary cap "guru" translate into talent evaluation? Roseman was already VP of Football Administration in 2006, 15 years ago. But hey, you won your 6 team fantasy league with your teenage nieces one year so you're a football expert. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Howie_Roseman#Professional_career https://eagles.1rmg.com/bios/howie-roseman/

In the post below you said he has no experience, I pointed out he has plenty, 20 years worth working in the Eagles front office. What experience should he have that he doesn't? I have you on ignore but since you post so frequently I end up reading many of your posts and responding (against my better judgement because I'm bored) to your nonsense. darin3
Oh here we go again. How did this conversation spin past the Niners and Jimmy G. Focus, guys. I'm hoping the Niners take Fields. He may not start Day One but he will overtake Jimmy G by next season. And as an owner of Fields in a Devy league, I think he'd really do well with Aiyuk, Samuel and Kittle.
League_Champion
Whoever it is almost has to start day 1, don't they? Especially for the price they paid to move up. I think the Patriots make a draft night trade for Garoppolo and get him for a 3 or 4. I can't see them going into the season with that distraction. I think they have concerns over his health. I have no issue grooming a top qb prospect. I have never been a proponent of throwing in a young qb on competitive teams. it is much easier to “see what you have” when there is little to lose (those mistakes are not going to mean anything). I was saying the same thing when harbaugh made the change from smith to Kaep. His mistakes were costly.
darin3
Heard a rumor that Aaron Rodgers could very well be traded to the Niners for the 3rd pick. Don't know why they'd do that - assuming that QB is the pick there - when they overpaid to get Jordan Love just last year.
