Player options before April 1st for 2022 and beyond - Both votes pass 37-10 and 42-5

2022 AND BEYOND PLAYER OPTIONS

  1. 1. Drops and contracts

    • Yes allow teams to drop 1 year contract players up until March 31st 11:59 PM ET with no penalty
    • NO drops allowed without penalty
  2. 2. NFL player sits out an entire year for any reason except injury (covid, retirement, holding out, not signed as a FA)

    • Yes allow teams that own that player have the option until March 31st 11:59 PM ET to get that year back. 
    • NO do not allow the player to get the year back option

This would be for the 2022 season and beyond.

 

Currently we have a rule you can drop that player up until the Monday following the NFL Super Bowl if they have what will be a 1 year contract the next year (will be at 2 years in the completed year).

 

I propose when the new MFL league is created in Feb/March that teams have until March 31st 11:59 PM ET to drop anyone with a 1 year contract at no penalty.  This will help with player retirements and having to decide on your players before the Super Bowl.  

 

Also propose that if an NFL player sits out an entire year for any reason except injury (covid, retirement, holding out, not signed as a FA) that the teams that own that player have the option until March 31st 11:59 PM ET to get that year back.
