stevegrab 1,439 Posted June 3, 2021 I believe they lasted 3 seasons before folding back then, I give them 2 years this time. Not sure why but many people with money seem to think that getting involved in some secondary pro football league in the US is a wise investment. A few of them must be making something for others to keep trying it over and over. I suppose some will watch, or check it out because they're mostly football fans (don't watch/follow MLB, NBA, NHL) and miss football action. But like most I have little to no interest. I also don't see the appeal that players had for USFL some 4 decades ago, which included being able to leave college earlier, and picking which team they'd sign with. Believe those 2 things were key for Herschel Walker, other college players probably liked it too giving them a chance to earn money sooner, and most probably figured the league would either fold or they'd shine and move to the NFL. It was the only time I saw New Jersey (my home state) attached to a football team. ETA: I clearly ignored the Trump and Walker bromance that started with the New Jersey Generals. stevegrab 1,439 Posted June 8, 2021 It was a different time, USFL was appealing to some top level players for a few reasons (allowed underclassmen to be drafted, some bigger contracts, you're the star of our league/team), that won't be the case with this second rate circus.
